Still Waters Posted November 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2022 (IP: Staff) · More than 20,000 people died across western Europe in this summer’s heatwaves, in temperatures that would have been virtually impossible without climate breakdown, figures show. Analysis of excess deaths, the difference between the number of deaths that happened and those expected based on historical trends, reveals the threats posed by climate change-induced global heating, scientists said. The analysis does not estimate heat-related deaths specifically, but the number of deaths was higher on average for heat-period days than non-heat-period days. Covid-19 deaths were excluded. “Despite this overwhelming evidence, there is still little public awareness of the dangers that extreme temperatures present to human health.” The summer of 2022 was the hottest on record, according to the EU’s Copernicus climate change service. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/nov/24/over-20000-died-western-europe-heatwaves-figures-climate-crisis 3 Top

Alchopwn Posted November 25, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2022 We should be seeding the oceans with iron. The dumbasses who say it won't work haven't even begun to think about how distribute it so it will sequester properly. In any case, the short term application will make marine life burgeon and that will definitely take plenty of CO2 out of the atmosphere, turning it into phytoplankton (the true lungs of the planet), plant and sea life. We're out of options and need to act, and this is by far the best answer. The naysayers' arguments are hollow if you examine them.

Knob Oddy Posted November 28, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2022 Can you believe it? Me neither. Considering the cold kills far more people then heat in Europe, I wonder what the toll will be this year
