Cruise passenger rescued after 15 hours in the sea

A passenger who went missing from a cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico has been rescued after more than 15 hours in the sea, the US Coastguard says.

The 28-year-old man had been at a bar on the Carnival Valor ship with his sister on Wednesday night but did not return after leaving to use the toilet.

Several rescue crews scoured the area and the man was finally spotted on Thursday evening, some 20 miles (30km) off the coast of Louisiana.

He is said to be in stable condition.

Thtat guy is lucky ! Just the uncontrolled fall from the cruise ship could have knocked him off...Drunk luck, lol !

I was reading about this the other day. He was so lucky in several ways. First he was located at all. And second he was actually responsive, and going to live. Rare after being 15 hours alone in the ocean, even in the Caribbean it is rare.

I'm still wondering how he fell off to begin with. He left his family to go to the bathroom, and must have went up on deck and leaned over too far.

Proabably followed his vomit down the ship side...
