Lancashire Tories turn on Government

Recommended Posts

Conservative Lancashire MPs have joined calls for the Government to slash spending on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives while also attacking spending on certain charities.

Sir Jake Berry, who represents Rossendale and Darwen, and the Blackpool South MP Scott Benton are among 40 MPs who signed a letter criticising tax levels and waste in government expenditure. The letter cites the Conservative Way Forward which claims that billions of pounds are being spent on “politically motivated and divisive activities”.

The report is titled Defunding Politically Motivated Campaigns and comes with the promise of "ending waste and division". Among its aims are scrapping EDI training and positions which it claims costs UK taxpayer £557 million a year, as well as 1m lost working days.

They can start by clawing back the tax-payer's money Johnson has spent getting legal representation for Partygate, the £1m he spent on livery for his private airliner, the £500k Truss spent on flying to Australia to get a trade deal that undermines British farming, and the £46k Rees-Mogg was paid to look for imaginary "Brexit Benefits". They were all politically motivated wastes of money.
