fred_mc Posted December 17, 2022 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2022 Sounds to me like he is mixing up UFOs and aliens. UFO simply means Unidentified Flying Object, and UAP really is a better term, for example what appears to be plasma balls have sometimes been seen (in Hessdalen, Norway for example), they are more phenomena than objects. 3 Top

Until you are speaking in a very specific context, ufo uap and aliens are used interchangeably and they mean the same.

No, they don't. Just ask the organization UFO Sweden here in Sweden, which are investigating UFOs. They often have to explain to people about just that since it is a common misconception. 1 Top

That glaring fact is a wicked bad thorn in the side knocker knot for true believers, i cant blame them. 1 Top

Yep, that fellow rocks although i bet true believers hate him like poison. "You're telling me there's an alien in front of your airplane, and the best you can do is a fuzzy monochromatic Tic-Tac? Really?" "And it's in our atmosphere? It's there?!? The plane can see it?!? Really?!?" Yep, he says it as it is. 1 Top

OK I get it and I was saying the same in formal and academic settings and for organizations like the one you mentioned UFOs don't mean aliens. But in casual talking, (people talking to each other during lunch) ufo means aliens.
