Still Waters Posted January 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2023 As the Nazis fled occupied Europe in the final days of the second world war, four German soldiers buried a hoard of gold coins and jewels in the middle of nowhere in the Dutch countryside. Nearly 80 years later, hopes of finding the buried loot have been raised after the National Archives of the Netherlands released a trove of documents – and a map to the treasure where X marks the spot. The treasure – four ammunition cases laden with coins, watches, jewellery, diamonds and other gemstones – is thought to have been worth at least 2m or 3m Dutch guilder in 1945, the equivalent of around £15.85m in today’s money. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jan/07/treasure-map-hunt-15million-nazi-hoard

Still Waters Posted January 13, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted January 13, 2023 Exasperated residents have appealed to treasure-hunters to stay away after they descended on the Dutch village of Ommeren searching for riches potentially worth millions, allegedly hidden by Nazi soldiers during World War Two. Now, throughout Ommeren there is evidence of unauthorised excavations. Discarded farming equipment which presumably activated metal detectors is strewn around freshly dug craters, gouged out of farmland and forests. "I moved here for the peace and tranquillity," said Sander, who was out walking his dog, Bouf. "Now the whole world knows about us." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-64254209

It should of been given to the authorities especially if it was Jewish loot and live munitions. 5
Still Waters Posted May 2, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted May 2, 2023 Nothing to see here: Dutch village calls off search for Nazi loot A Dutch village that became the focus of a frenzied treasure hunt after a map allegedly showed Nazi loot buried there during the second world war has declared the search over – and said nothing was found. The small hamlet of Ommeren did conclude that there had indeed been treasure buried there, but that it was removed after the war. A ban on metal detectors remained in place, she said. “If people again try to go and find the treasure, we’ll enforce the ban.” https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/may/02/dutch-village-calls-off-search-for-nazi-loot

Pat Mc Posted May 4, 2023 #7 Share Posted May 4, 2023 I am not surprised that they could not find it, the article says Nazi Gold in Dutch Village but then goes on to say that it had allegedly been buried in the German Countryside??
