Still Waters Posted January 8 #1 Share Posted January 8 (IP: Staff) · A critically endangered western lowland gorilla has died in captivity aged 54, it has been announced. Bafia had lived at the zoo at the Chessington World of Adventures theme park in Leatherhead, Surrey, since 1969. The zoo described her as a "gentle soul" and said "everyone is extremely sad" about Bafia's death. Having previously been treated for multiple illnesses, Bafia was put to sleep on Thursday, the zoo said. Born in captivity, Bafia was part of endangered species breeding programme, although she did not have any offspring. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-64189249 4 Top
Occupational Hubris Posted January 9 #2 Share Posted January 9 We've lost a few ove rthe years at my zoo, but they'll lived increadibly long lives and birthed mor ethan a few offspring. 54 is a good age for a gorilla to make it to. 1 Top
