Students accused of bullying a Black basketball player with monkey noises during a school game have been suspended from their Michigan school district—but it was not enough for parents and community members who claim the district is too soft on racism. “This is clearly a systemic issue in our district. The softhand approach to discipline…has created a safe place—not a safe place for minority students—but a safe place for racism and bigotry,” a parent said at the meeting.

“You had the opportunity to send a clear and concise message to your students, administrators, and parents. …Unfortunately, I feel you have fallen short.” Jenison Public Schools director of communications Peter DeGraaf told The Daily Beast Tuesday that the students responsible for the racist behavior had been given “out-of-school disciplinary action. Parents Fume as High School Ballers Are Benched for Monkey Taunts (msn.com)

The underlying sentiment here seems to be that a lot of people want these students punished.  The school has already agreed that "out of school" discipline will be meted out.  The parents of the kids who were mocked seem to want more severe punishment.  It makes me wonder just how far they'd like to go.  Racism is ugly and it can and does live in the heart of people of all ages and ethnicities.  It cannot be stamped out with "discipline".  It will not be stamped out with government edicts and punishments, no matter how harsh.  The more severe the consequences, the more the hatred behind it will be fueled.  We are losing the profound progress that has been made and it's due to the work of the race hustlers and their media masters.

These are teens in high school.  They live in a part of America that is supposed to have no racism compared to the deep south where I am.  They deserve to receive disciplinary action for behaving in such a way in school and I'm sure they'll get that punishment.  Amplifying the incident and using the media to virtue signal will only make those involved, become more subtle with their hate while likely intensifying that hate.  :(

Well, then how do you explain the 180 difference between on military installation and off a military installation. Discipline and punishment work hand in hand  effectively, I lived on a military in housing for a few years after we married in the late 1980s and like I said the problems outside didn’t exist or people were disciplined enough to hide it either way there are way to deal with it , As far as the parents wanting more done I believe thsts a natural reaction. I had a situation at military hospital, receptionist was very disrespectful to my, and she didn’t realize that I was there standing behind my wife and daughter. I heard everything that was said, I went to the hospital Sergeant Major’s and received an appointment to speak with General. Unltimateky I got what I wanted, the women it turns out had other complaints so I had fired, she list her job, and because of the situation, she also lost her retirement as a GS - Worker I mean you the crime and then you them times

I don’t kids I blame the parents I believe the inaction of the fact that the parents also have racial undertones, When, kids or teenagers act like is bad parenting.
