itsnotoutthere Posted January 24 #1 Share Posted January 24 The song A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin is being bashed by LGBTQ critics as 'offensive,' with one organization in particular saying the tune helps perpetuate harmful anti-trans stereotypes. Released as a single by the late Queen of Soul back in 1967, the stirring love ballad is now facing scrutiny - despite preaching positive messages in regards to women and femininity in general. Leading the charge to have the song nixed is the Norway-based Trans Cultural Mindfulness Alliance (TCMA), a group started this year and has since made its presence known with a series of polarizing posts on social media. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11666981/Now-Aretha-Franklins-song-Natural-Woman-deemed-OFFENSIVE-trans-women.html?ico=topics_pagination_desktop 1 Top

eight bits Posted January 24 #4 Share Posted January 24 I'm happy to acknowledge that I'm a free speech radical. I know that rights and interests conflict, and that balance is needed. However, speech that offends nobody doesn't need protection, doesn't need to be a "right." The words are by Gerry Goffin from a concept by Jerry Wexler; music composed by Carole King. Testify, Ma'am. 1 3 Top

Saru Posted January 24 #7 Share Posted January 24 (IP: Staff) · I think we need to have a crackdown on threads based on fallacious 'anti-woke' stories - most of them are based on twisted truths at best, downright lies at worst - and designed to provoke anger and hate towards one community or another; usually to score cheap political points or to appeal to certain audiences. In this particular case the Daily Mail has reported on a satirical Tweet as factual - it's not even a legitimate story. Closed. 1 6 Top
