Still Waters Posted February 2 #1 Share Posted February 2 (IP: Staff) · King Charles III will not feature on Australia’s $5 note after a decision by the Reserve Bank to replace Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait with a design “that honours the culture and history of the First Australians”. With the Australian government backing the decision, the move to balk at the presumed tradition of having Australia’s head of state on the note has already generated fierce debate. Australia’s opposition leader, Peter Dutton, weighed in shortly after the announcement on Thursday on Sydney radio station 2GB, saying the prime minister, Anthony Albanese, would “have been central” to not placing King Charles on the note and should “own” the decision. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/feb/02/australia-new-5-dollar-banknote-indigenous-history-note-instead-of-king-charles 1 Top
Golden Duck Posted February 2 #2 Share Posted February 2 A pointless gesture. Except it may be symbolic as the five dollar note is disappearing rapidly. We're all but cashless. The homeless people around Southbank, in Brisbane, have EFTPOS terminals to ask for donations. 1 Top

They couldn't fit Charles' ears on the notes so they opted for plan B. Edited February 4 by Black Red Devil 1 Top
