Lancashire Police said it received reports over the weekend of messages being sent to Wyre Council members.

A 49-year-old man from Manchester and a 20-year-old woman from Oldham have been arrested on suspicion of malicious communications offences.

The detective also confirmed that a glove found near to where Ms Bulley disappeared does not belong to her.

MPs and campaigners have criticised the police for releasing personal details about the missing woman Nicola Bulley’s issues with alcohol and the menopause, with one describing it as “deeply troubling”.

Stella Creasy, the Labour MP for Walthamstow, was one of a number of people who questioned why Lancashire police took the unusual step of releasing private details about Bulley.

At a press conference on Wednesday, police revealed that Bulley, who went missing almost three weeks ago, had “individual vulnerabilities” that put her in the highest risk category, meaning there was a risk of her coming to serious harm.

Those vulnerabilities were not outlined until several hours later when police released a statement about Bulley’s “significant issues with alcohol” brought on by “her ongoing struggles with the menopause”.

Was listening to this on the news, seems the police just can't win. One minute they're accused of not releasing enough info then too much. But the new info does raise the question of either accident or suicide, i.e. no others involved.

People are sick. There are more videos made by amateur sleuths up on the internet than I've had Sunday dinners (I'm 69!),

None of them care about anything but themselves, their 15 minutes of fame, and their number of 'likes' and subscribers.

I'm disappointed in the police divulging personal information to the public that will not assist any resolution of the case. There is no way the public can use that information to help matters. The police are trying to defend themselves at the cost of the woman and her family's privacy.

The family of missing Nicola Bulley have said "appalling" speculation surrounding her private life "needs to stop".

In a new statement, they said: "As a family, we were aware beforehand that Lancashire Police, last night, released a statement with some personal details about our Nikki.

"Although we know that Nikki would not have wanted this, there are people out there speculating and threatening to sell stories about her. This is appalling and needs to stop.

The issue with the police releasing personal info basically saying she is bonkers, with her face now known all over the country, and with it being a small village, is if she returns home her life is essentially over.

She will have to dye her hair, move, and change names. Otherwise the s-bags will mock her wherever she goes.

Police will be asked about Nicola Bulley health disclosures to ensure they were necessary, the information commissioner says.

John Edwards said personal details should not be "disclosed inappropriately".

Lancashire Police was criticised for making her struggles with alcohol and the menopause public.

Mr Edwards said data protection laws existed "to ensure personal information is used properly and fairly".

"Police can disclose information to protect the public and investigate crime, but they would need to be able to demonstrate such disclosure was necessary," he said.

Good luck to those cops.  How would disclosing anything as personal and menopause issues to the public?   Just a misogynist move to deflect ire  or protect someone they know is guilty in my opinion.    No other time do men bring up women's hormonal status than to deflect attention from their failings or bad behavior.

Divers searching for missing mother-of-two Nicola Bulley have found a body in the river, police have confirmed.

The 45-year-old vanished in St Michael’s on Wyre while walking her dog after dropping her daughters at school on 27 January.

Lancashire Police confirmed on Sunday a body had been recovered from the River Wyre, near where Ms Bulley went missing.

Hmm, this all seems a bit suspect - the police and dive teams have been scouring that section of river for weeks and now, all of a sudden, someone walking past just happens to spot a body in the water just a short distance from where she went missing.

Well, the post-mortem will tell how long she has been in the water.  I cant’t believe she was there all the time and not found, especially with the specialist search team and their equipment.  Could someone have recently dumped her body there? Would make more sense.

If its murder I think they now know its a local.

They will know the temperature of the water over the last few weeks, and from it how decomposed the body should be. They will also know where she has been kept (if not in the river) from the bugs that have been feeding on her. Then there are potential injuries.

From what I can tell the discovery spot is 10 metres away from an easily accessible road. Very easy for someone to quickly dumb.

Lancashire Police said the body is yet to be formally identified and it is "unable to say whether this is Nicola Bulley at this time".

"Procedures to identify the body are ongoing," the force said.

"We are currently treating the death as unexplained.

"Nicola's family have been informed of developments and our thoughts are with them at this most difficult of times."

I haven't heard that one.  The men who have testosterone driven acts are scary and most women just disappear if they can, but they don't blame it on the testosterone.   Oh, wait, are you talking about when a man thinks with the brain in his pants instead of the one in his head?   Yeah, I have actually said that once or twice.   But when they are acting like angry gorillas, which is induced by testosterone I don't say anything (might reach for his eyeballs and scare the bejeezus out of him but I don't accuse him of having a testosterone moment)   Who has complained like that to you?

On Monday, Bob Eastwood, a former chief superintendent at Lancashire Police, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: “Only yesterday there were people purporting to be the media that quite clearly weren’t and they were climbing over the fence to take pictures of the body that the police were recovering.

"This is something else.”

Bulley's disappearance has drawn so-called "TikTok detectives" to the area, with her friends and family and police speaking out about their intrusion.

Earlier this month, a friend of Bulley said many visitors were using the scene of her disappearance as a "tourist spot" to take selfies for posting on social media.
