Koch Political Machine Vows to Fight to Deny Trump GOP Nomination in 2024

The Koch brothers, whose political machine fuels the most powerful donor network in conservative politics, are declaring that machine will be part of the NeverTrump effort for 2024, aiming to deny former President Donald Trump a third nomination for the White House. The declaration, released in a recent memo to staffers and activists, never explicitly mentions Trump, but it’s abundantly clear from the tone in Americans for Prosperity CEO Emily Seidel’s message that the grassroots behemoth she leads has no plans of being a passive player in Republican politics when it comes to the White House.

But, in the intervening time, many of the Trump apologists in the Koch orbit have soured on the ex-President. The deadly Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, was a last straw for many, and the threat posed by a leader without respect for the rule of law—a key tenant for the free-market donors central to the Koch orbit—was too much to ignore. So, heading into the early days of the 2024 jockeying, it’s clear that the massive vault of cash controlled by these groups is up for grabs. It alone won’t be enough to win anyone the nomination—and maybe not enough to deny it to Trump—but it’s a force that doesn’t have a peer.

Trump's goose is cooked.  He can't win without the Koch/Aspen Billionaires' Network support, let alone their outright opposition.

Hey, I didn't know that you are a politically savvy Buddhist..:D:nw:

It's funny but in reality, the members of this forum who live, eat and sleep politics most likely don't even know who. Charles Koch is. The first time I became aware of the last name Koch was in 2010-2011, at that time a Republican movement had recently been started called the Tea Party. At that time the face of the Koch family was the late David Koch, and David was the financial support and the face behind the Tea Party. The two brothers, David and Charles were the face of Big Oil in the United States and at that time they had liquid assests of approximately $8 Billion.

But, the most significant thing that came out of the Koch association with the Tea party was Donald Trump. In, 2011 2012 Donald Trump was given the responsibility of the Birther Movement and Donald played his part into 2013. There were two things that got Donald Trump elected in 2017, the Christian vote which was delivered by Mike Pence, and the financial backing supplied by the Koch Brothers. So, like you said above: ""He can't win without the Koch/Aspen Billionaires' Network support"" which is absolutely accurate. So, all I can say is fantastic post my friend and sincerely thank you for supporting this thread, I appreciate very very much!!!!:tu:

Namaste!!!:nw:

It is another case of the villains  fighting among themselves over division of the loot.  its hard to get excited over who wins.

Ahh yes, politics - the game the rich play and the stupid think they matter in.
Keep it up Koches, just keep reminding people that their opinion, their vote doesn’t really matter. That always ends well for people.

I've been tuned in to the bros. Koch since the late nineties.  Very successful they have been in accomplishing their goals.  Of course there are other groups of billionaires who vie with them for influence and control.  Trump turned out to be too self obsessed to serve as their tool.

Honestly, the more I observe humanity these days the sadder I get.

Namaste, my friend.

Wonder how long this will take to filter down to the bookies. Trump is still the favourite in betting circles (co-equal with Ron DeSantis @ $2.40). Interestingly, Nikki Hayley is now on the third line of betting, overtaking Mike Pence as the third most likely Republican candidate (but still a $13 outsider, so it's still basically a 2-horse race).

Of course I've heard of David Koch, he's the Aussie news presenter and finance analyst

Sunrise star David Koch reveals he often gets mistaken for a US billionaire who shares his name... and died almost two years ago

Kidding, mate. I know OF the Koch's in America, I don't know a huge amount ABOUT them, though, except that they are conservatives and billionaires.

As an aside, I've met the Aussie David Koch after being invited as part of a costuming club to be part of the Sunrise program many years ago for the release of one of the Star Wars movies, and he is the biggest tosser on the planet. I legitimately think he is an unprofessional news presenter who gets by on the force of his personality rather than any ability to run a news show. A few years ago he was hosting the Sydney Christmas Carols concert broadcast on telly, and the cameras caught him dancing the wrong moves to a Wiggles song, then he made some off-handed joke/comment about needing to learn the steps better. It was played as a laugh, but after meeting him in real life and seeing how he runs his morning show I'm certain that he literally didn't know the moves and was too unprofessional to bother learning, even though he's been hosting the Carols for years and The Wiggles are a guest every single year playing the same set of songs with the same actions.

Lol, sorry, it's really hard for me not to complain about "Kochie" after I get started, he really was unpleasant to deal with in the Green Room. Have a great day, Reaper :innocent:

I will take the word of Allen Lichtman over bookies any day and right now he is hinting that Biden will win as a incumbent President if of course Biden decides to run as President again. And I think he will. :D

I was talking about the winner of the Republican primaries not the Presidential election. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

Joe Biden is still the bookies favourite in the Presidential race.

Well, if you interested in making bets, I have used the Book Facilities at the Wynn Hotel and Casino for more than 15 years now. I update my account annually and the Wynn is the only hotel / Casino we stay at when we are in Las Vegas because we always get our room Comp'ed into a Suite. I believe your joking about the bets, but if anyone is serious please contact me, it should be fun!:tu:

It's okay. I think any misunderstanding is partly my fault too. I honestly hope Trump does win the RP, but it's only because I think he will lose to Biden in the end. I would love to see that again.:D

I have no idea what you’re even talking about, the American Koch brothers are Billionaires who own the majority of oil drilling and production facilities in the United States. When it comes to Republican Party Politics the Koch’s are the KING MAKERS and they have been for more 30 years. They support the RightWing Republican causes, Dave Koch was responsible for starting the Tea Party movement and the Birther Scandal. Because of these individuals Trump won the Republican nomination for .President in 2016 , however by the time the 2020 election they no longer supported him and here again in 2024 Trump will not receive their endorsement.

Like the FBI, the Koch brothers haven’t the power to stop Trump.

Obviously you are not aware of the power that Charles Koch has. If I were you I would do some research on the Charle Koch going back about 30 really.

I think biden won 2020 mostly because the people were done with BOMs bumbling life costing incompetence not because they wanted biden who has been a delightful place keeper, sadly i think hes too old for another 4 however if he did run he would beat BOM even worse this time far more people hate BOM after his comedy on the 6th it would be gut wracking hilarious the tantrums and brayings of fraud by that cry baby loser man child and his few left bend kneed worshippers while they go into with their full unhinged meltdowns.

These rich men got in bed with a proverbial Devil, and you think they can just walk away? I just have a feeling that's not how this works.

Not only that, but also Trump's toxicity. By 2020 most people got sick of it coming from him, except for small groups of backwards thinking people that think and act like him. Forward thinking people are only going to tolerate that kind of toxic political insanity in our political atmosphere for so long and our 2020 votes reflected that. Yes Biden is definitely getting too old to be President, but with our limited choices I would vote for him again any day over Trump. We don't need toxic clowns for President. :D

More people voted for Dementia Turnip than live in my country. That’s not a small group by any standard.

Yet who is now President? Your comparison is by your island continent population.  But in this country of over 330 million it is a small group compared to the number of people that voted for Biden.

You’re right … 82 million people is so much more than 74million…. 6 million people.

And what was your point when you started this "That’s not a small group by any standard." statement? What are you driving at? To be argumentative about an irrelevant point or are you hinting at something?

74 million people is a lot of people? Not as many as 82, obviously, but 74 million is not a small group, it’s what roughly a 1/5 of America?
