They were trying to release them slowly so there was no explosion. I know people who work in environmental clean-up. The motto is "The solution to pollution is dilution." The chemicals have now been released into the air and will dissipate.

I’m struggling with the “solution to pollution is dilution” being followed up by “the chemicals have been released into the air”.

It’s going to take a detailed report of the incident for me to wrap my head around the decision to burn it

He never really wanted the job but had to in order to stop the complete destruction of America under Trump.

this is a fascinating statement. Out of all the highly intelligent/ capable/ understanding individuals there are in America, someone who doesn't want the job gets to be the president of the United States.

Does the western world really live in a democracy?

Well technically yes- you can vote for who you want, but only out of those who can afford to run for office.

Not my area of expertise. But what we were told atleast was that due to the local temperature drop that the cargo was destabilizing and at risk to explode.

Damn what's going on? I've lost count of how many food and industrial plants have gone up in flames over the last year. Gonna look to see where Bedford is now.

Edit: up near Cleveland

It was an explosion. Some sites are saying there are burn injuries.

Representatives of the company could not immediately be reached for comment. The business has produced copper alloys since 1917 and also produces brass and bronze alloys, according to its website.

Matthew Wiggins, owner of the neighboring business Rose Colored Gaming, told WOIO he heard a large explosion.

"Within a second or two, it sounded like large amounts of debris were hitting the roof. Things were falling off the walls, falling off shelves. We went out front and there was like smoldering rocks and molten metal in the yard. Tons and tons of smoke. Fire billowing out of the building across the street," Wiggins said.

Another witness, Joe Sarconi, said he was eating lunch in his car across the street when he heard at least two explosions that obliterated a brick wall enclosing the property.

"Flame shot and I just covered. A beam flew across the street. That other beam flew across the street and blew out our window," Sarconi said. "Exciting, but horrible."

Exciting but horrible. What a closing statement!

I thought that too. That's an awful thing to say. I hope I'm never that bored.

For the record, the Jon Stewart content she alluded to was all about blaming Republicans. So, I think it’s premature to declare the left has lost Rosie,

It's incredible how no matter what happens in America people make it out to be a Democrat versus Republican issue almost every single time.

And then they'll come up with dumb ideas like term limits or age restrictions etc.. like that will solve anything.

Maybe, just maybe the issue is government in itself.

And your solution to government is?  Let the railroad companies run things?

However, if someone believes that there is no long term threat, they could buy up some property pretty cheap.

That would be a very risky investment.  The lawsuits that are coming will keep this event in the public eye for a very long time and in today's America, perception is stronger than reality.  That's why our corporate media is so culpable in the worsening condition of our nation - IMO.

Maybe not.  Will it be cool when you guys get your own country?  You will be able to cut regulations, services, and taxes to your liking. If effect that will cut the size of the federal government. It will be good for us too.  We can protect LGBTQ   nonwhites and all of the woke ideas we have without putting a bee under your bonnet.  We can have abortion rights, you can outlaw abortion.  You can get the Confederate battle flag back as your national flag. You can expel all immigrants including Muslims, Mexicans, and Asians. And as a side benefit, we will all save on taxes.  You can make buddies with Russia, Iran, and China. Maybe we can get along as neighbors rather than housemates.

Being two powerful countries for a while instead of one might not be so bad.   I still have my Texas granny's church cookbook, maybe I will even be able to get a visa to go back  and visit relatives.

After the divorce, who gets custody of the major tech companies?  I hope you get to keep those.

Maybe you can get China to put in some belt and road projects to fix your highways, fund your schools and law enforcement.

Who wants to do all of that?  I think you are throwing a huge blanket over a bunch of people.   Everyone should not feel they must fight for everything one party stands for.

Me:

I typically vote Republican or 3rd party.

I have no issues with trans folks but I do not believe biological men should compete in women's sports or use their locker rooms.

I am not against abortion.

I have no interest in the confederate flag.

I have no issue with legal immigrants.

I have only disdain for Russia, China and Iran.

I am an atheist.

Marjorie Taylor Green for one.  She is the one tweeting about it.  I don't think you would get along in her conception of a red state.   We both may  be cantankerous sometimes, a lot of our views overlap, some don't but I have never doubted we could be part of the same country.  Some have thought about it a lot.   MTG thinks that a Democrat moving to a red state should not be allowed to vote for 5 years.  She seems to be Kevin McCarthy's right hand, so I think she has some popularity and influence.

I’m afraid we would have to invade to de-nazify Wokistan ;)

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Trying to Give Norfolk Southern $15 Million in Taxpayer Funds

Democrat Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer reportedly wants to give disgraced rail company Norfolk Southern $15 million in taxpayer dollars even after it had two disastrous derailments this past month.

According to GOP Michigan Rep. James DeSana, as much as $15 million could go to the Norfolk Southern Railway Company out of a $750 million proposal in corporate welfare money from her administration. Per The Midwesterner:

according to this, not only is the freight company “accidentally” asking people to legally excuse the company of any liability … they hav3 massive “safety concerns” and a litany of “incidents” on the books.
