+and-then Posted February 27 #2 Share Posted February 27 Hmm... I wonder if that would create a "backflow" of Polish who return home for economic opportunities? 1 Top
Alchopwn Posted February 27 #3 Share Posted February 27 (edited) Blame Wales. They hate Polish immigrants enough to force the whole UK to quit the EEC and are prepared to become poorer than the Poles just so they stay out of Wales. Such is the overweening Welsh xenophobia. Now please, I'm not suggesting the Welsh hold to some Far Right Ideology or anything like that. This is more a case of that visceral but barely articulatable negative reaction that old folks get when they see youngsters skateboarding nearby. They hate and fear "the Muslims", though they don't like other Europeans (though the majority of British people would be horrified to discover they are also Europeans). I know Welsh (and English) people who persuaded by Farage's poster which implied remaining in the EU would allow 70 million Turkish immigrants to enter Britain- although Turkey has no chance of joining the EU, the UK would have the right to veto their application, and the UK has always had the right to block entry or deport EU citizens under FOM, it just chose not to use that right). This is a chap (not Welsh) expressing this view, explaining the effect of 'Muslamic Law': Edited February 27 by pellinore
