The majority of Germans want to restore compulsory military service, which was scrapped in 2011, a survey revealed on Thursday, as war on the European continent between Russia and Ukraine drags on for over a year.

The survey was conducted by the Paris-based Ipsos MORI group, a multinational market research and consulting company. It polled 1,000 eligible voters aged between 18 and 75 nationwide.

The poll revealed that 61% of the respondents were in favor of reintroducing compulsory service.

Furthermore, 43% believed that compulsory service should apply to all genders, while the remaining 18% said it should apply but only to men, as was the case under the now-defunct law.

Earlier this year, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius fueled the debate when he said that, in his opinion, "it was a mistake to suspend compulsory military service."

What choice do they have? After the German unification Germany opted to have good ties with both, USA and Russia. Since 2010 money was poored into Russia's economy, deals were made to benefit all. Now, Russia went back to be the villain that cannot be trusted, a power that want to have the ultimate say in Europe and the world.

2011 was a good choice by Germany, now they have to make another good choice to bring back compulsory military service. Not because they want to but because they are forced to. They have been already indirect threats about the former east germany to be included again into russia.

Pfffft!
If Russia decided to invade Germany would be ****ed with or without conscripts (who are the worst kind of soldier to have anyway).

Compulsory Military Service is an outdated concept. I'm glad I was exempted due to health reasons.

In that situation, conscription of any kind would be seen as superfluous.

I am on the fence on this one.  When I was stationed in Germany in the 70's I worked with those conscripted soldiers and they were not all bad soldiers, some like it because they did not get high enough scores to go to university and had no clue what trade they wanted to train for.   Others were just sitting around waiting for their two years to be up so they could get on with what ever they had planned for their life.   Much like the U.S soldiers before the vietnam war I assume.  I served with U.S. who had been conscripted and decided to make it a carreer and the younger ones who were all volunteers like me.   I saw some of the same waiting for thier life to begin once their term was up attitudes in the volunteers as well.  In some ways I think out military has suffered because of becoming all volunteer, and in some ways I think it is better.   Too many variables (humans always provide lots of variables) to decide which is better.

I want to bet the next video will be shown on Russian TV on Puta..Putin's command:

Neo-nazism in the Ukraine was the little rat's excuse to invade that country.

The modern Germans wanting to reinstall compulsatory militairy service will add to the little rat's desire to see that as some sort of proof Nazis are rising again, and that his war against the Ukraine is legitimate.

Just wait.

I liked Mannheim, they had a nice garden that we would go walk around.  We used to go to Heidelburg a lot.  They had a nice botanical gardens there.   Some of the G.I.s I worked witih liked to go to sit next to the canal and have picnics.    I remember going to a zoo once but I don't remember what city that was in.
