Florida aims to revoke hotel's liquor license for drag show

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration is moving to revoke the liquor license of a Miami hotel that hosted a Christmas drag show, a crackdown that comes as the Republican governor looks to shore up his conservative credentials ahead of an expected 2024 presidential bid. The state’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation filed an administrative complaint earlier this week against the Hyatt Regency Miami for hosting the Christmas-themed show. It alleged that the performance was “sexually explicit" and that children were present for the “lewd, vulgar and indecent” display. The Hyatt Regency Miami said the programming and ticketing at the venue were managed by a third party and the hotel’s role was to serve food and beverages. Amir Blattner, the hotel’s general manager, said the liquor license remains active as the complaint is being reviewed.

The producers of the drag show didn’t immediately respond to a message from The Associated Press seeking comment Thursday. The complaint says the state warned the hotel ahead of the Dec. 27 performance to stop children from attending, but the hotel only made it a recommendation and allowed minors who went with adults, the complaint says. It also alleged that performers simulated sex acts and exposed “prosthetic female breasts."

Ridiculous

It is ridiculous, because if their were children there their parents would have taken them. So, why not prosecute the parents, their responsibility not the hotel!

We would have to know exactly what occurred to begin to judge this.  I think a majority of dance moves can be interpreted to be sexual to some extent and always have.  Does that mean kids shouldn't watch?  Lets ask Soul Train.

These type of shows normally have an age limit without parents which is normally 18 years old. I actually think this situation is being taken to ridiculous lengths, because depending upon someone’s religious and moral values anything could be viewed as sexual. To, me if the performers are fully clothed and no physical contact is made it should not be illegal?

When is he going to ban electronic devices for kids under 18?  A cellphone is nothing more than millions of gigabytes worth of pornography.

That’s a good point, however if parents are concerned they have the ability to control the phones usage by simply using the parental controls built into it.

Sure.  I have teenagers.  Two years ago, my 14 year old daughter at the time (16 now) was talking to us about how she was on season 3 of Orange is the New Black.  I asked her how she was watching it with the parental blocks.  You know what parental controls don't block?  Googling how to bypass parental blocks.

Must be your service provider, on our phones here in Korea the Parental Controls are password protected. So, there is no bypassing it unless they can hack a 8 diget code.

Exactly …

This is the kind of political theater that panders to the far right, and their fear of Will and Grace as a sexual gateway.

By far the greatest damage to our children, is their hero President Trump teaching kids that it’s OK to lie about everything, to get ahead, no matter what.

Donald Trump taught kids to grab the genitals of women to get ahead. What DeSanta should have added, is this is the acceptable Florida method of checking for gender, when you can’t be sure.

And when you're not sure, you could always just propose to keep tabs on their menstrual cycles.

They’ve lost touch with reality… on several levels.

Speaking of which, the earth is giving Florida a perpetual red tide, now, in part, to remind Florida of their new poisonous political reality.

Soon, Florida Atlantis will sink beneath the red waves, and DeSanta will have a much smaller population to lie to.

How soon? 6 months,  six years? Florida is on my bucket list.  I might need to adjust travel plans.

Go now before the seaweed stinks up the beaches.  I've been diving there in the old days, lots to see.  But if you miss it, try Hawaii or Tahiti.

Orlando is nice …. but the ocean is becoming a poisonous red tide soup, now, especially on the Gulf side.

Florida is sinking beneath the waves, now. It’s partly why that giant condo building collapsed, recently.

Easy mate, we are not talking about Australia.  There are no salties in Florida.  Nice clear water, lots to see even in shallow water <30'.  Besides the sharks eat all the alligators that venture out  that far.:D

It's worth a trip to see some of the weirder “roadside attraction” towns like Gibsonton, Floral City, Cassadaga, and especially St. Augustine. Or, to visit the different springs around the state (Alexander Springs is an excellent destination). Never been too fond of the beaches, though. Too touristy, unless it's one of the more isolated spots like Boneyard Beach or some of the places around Clearwater and Dunedin. Venice, FL is also kind of nice just for Sharky's On the Pier. Or, Flagler Beach maybe for the Funky Pelican restaurant and a drive on A1A.

Otherwise the rest of the state is just shady motels and trailer parks. (Edit: and lots of lizards)

What he is saying is that Trump taught children how to identify someone who is transgender from someone who isn’t.  Trump calls grabbing people genitalia giving someone a Christmas Goose!
