Still Waters Posted March 20 #1 Share Posted March 20 (IP: Staff) · UN chief Antonio Guterres says a major new report on climate change is a "survival guide for humanity". Clean energy and technology can be exploited to avoid the growing climate disaster, the report says. But at a meeting in Switzerland to agree their findings, climate scientists warned a key global temperature goal will likely be missed. Their report lays out how rapid cuts to fossil fuels can avert the worst effects of climate change. In response to the findings, UN secretary general Antonio Guterres says that all countries should bring forward their net zero plans by a decade. These targets are supposed to rapidly cut the greenhouse gas emissions that warm our planet's atmosphere. "There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all," the report states. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-65000182 1 Top
Ell Posted March 20 #2 Share Posted March 20 The warmer it gets, the less fuel people will burn in order to get warm. We may therefore expect carbondioxide emissions to go down strongly.

Of course you always have a tanker or two in the vicinity feeding the fighter planes that you can't see but you know are there. A couple of portable gas stations for his convenience. If all the fat cats would just stay home, carbon emissions could be lowered drastically. 2 Top

Doug Today I spent € 7.09 on fuel for personal use: yoghurt, cherries, chocolade, fish. I also used some fuel left over from previous days: some oranges. spud the mackem Posted March 24 #8 Share Posted March 24 One 747 jet flying from New York to London uses more fuel on 1 trip than 100 cars used every day for a year and that includes sitting in traffic jams .
