I just wanna practice games with you but i can't play like days. I wanted to play at least 10 minutes only. My first game was not good because my opponent resigns. Here's the game. scipherel Posted March 27, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted March 27, 2005 (edited) Looks like Joc didn't have a sleep playing chess. Good game Joc and i got no idea how you managed to survive that attack. You must be doing good in chess. Here's the analysis of our game. Joc ( w ) vs Scip ( B ) press the control knob to see from the start. Rematch Edited March 30, 2005 by scipherel

Neo2005 Posted March 29, 2005 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2005 Why are so many people resigning? I always play to the bitter end
scipherel Posted March 29, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted March 29, 2005 Why are so many people resigning? I always play to the bitter end 547622 Because they don't understimate their opponent. It's a Grandmaster handshake. Why ? are you expecting a miracle? It only happen on 5 minutes blitz chess.
Elfstone810 Posted March 29, 2005 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2005 Neo, I usually resign when I can see that they've got me checkmated in just a few moves and there's nothing I can do to prevent it. (My kings figure that if they surrender instead of getting killed on the battlefield there's always a chance they can escape and attack from within! )
Talon Posted March 29, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 29, 2005 Resignation if your done for is usually a sign of respect to your oponent, in that they know their beaten and they wont waste your time making a futile attempt to get out of it by making the match last another 7 moves by having the king run around the board before they can get that checkmate in. Thistle Posted March 29, 2005 #12 Share Posted March 29, 2005 Why are so many people resigning? I always play to the bitter end 547622 I try not to resign if I can help it but there's the time factor to take into account with this tourney, there's so many games still to get played that it would be silly to drag a game on for longer than necessary if the outcome is blatantly obvious. Best just get it out the way and move on to the next one.
Elfstone810 Posted March 30, 2005 #13 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Thistle, I doubt you often get into a situation where you're obviously done for! (If anyone hasn't played her yet, beware! She's a meanie. A nice meanie! But a meanie! ) (Oh, and Talon and Saru are too! )
Thistle Posted March 30, 2005 #14 Share Posted March 30, 2005 rofl Elfy, it happens quite a lot. And I'm only mean because erm.... ummmm....*points at Saru*....HE made me do it.
Subtemperate Posted March 30, 2005 #15 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Im the opposite.....I never give up in a match, I make people beat me properly..... Just because thats the way I am, I dont take an easy way out, even when its probably a time saver...lol
scipherel Posted March 30, 2005 Author #16 Share Posted March 30, 2005 And also one more thing. If your king was checked and there's only one place to move it, well you have to move it. Don't waste time.

Subtemperate Posted March 30, 2005 #19 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Its the australian way im afraid, we battle...no matter the odds. Even in the face of peril, with no hope, we shan't give.... Elfstone810 Posted March 30, 2005 #21 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Well, guys, I'm done playing for right now. I have to go get a bigger chess set so I can try to figure out a way to get away from Talon. (The big meanie has me in a corner and he's stalking my poor queen and trying to get rid of my bishop so he can promote one of his pawns so he'll have two queens and . . . and . . . )

Tis probably why we were used as fodder in world wars..... 547840 Aw, Subby! Reminds me of a Hagar the Horrible cartoon. Hagar's telling his son about his favorite daydream. He's all alone, defending Norway. Against him are ranged all sorts of famous warriors, Ceasar, Attilla the Hun, Hannibal with his elephants, Alexander the Great, etc. All of them are backed by mighty armys. As they stand facing each other, Ceasar raises his hand for silence and tells his cohorts: "We'll attack as soon as our reinforcements arrive!" Saru Posted March 30, 2005 #23 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Well, guys, I'm done playing for right now. Just a reminder that we're looking to get everyone completing a total of at least 5 games each by Monday to help speed things along a bit. Click Here - for more details. Thistle Posted March 30, 2005 #25 Share Posted March 30, 2005 I started a game with you Scip, pretty well through my tourney matches so I think I can afford to have a fun game (not that the tourney games aren't fun of course)
