Russian jets of newer generation increase 'dominance' in combat zone, Ukrainian official says

''Newer generation fighter jets are giving Russia "increasing dominance" in the skies over the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine, according to a senior Ukrainian official.

It is a potentially worrying shift for the United States and its allies because Russia’s inability to achieve total air superiority throughout the course of the war has been key to Ukrainian successes on the battlefield.

In a briefing last week with journalists, a Western official downplayed the concern, stating that Russia’s ability to control the skies has been limited by air defense and surface-to-air missiles.

[...]

The Su-35 is equipped "with very effective radar and long-distance rockets," the official said, and Russia is using these aircraft to attack Ukrainian jets in the air as well as for ground support operations.

Doing more selective quoting of articles I see.

Right where you decided to stop quoting the next line is interesting.

"In a briefing last week with journalists, a Western official downplayed the concern, stating that Russia’s ability to control the skies has been limited by air defense and surface-to-air missiles.

"We’re not seeing a huge change in that situation," the official said.

The senior official in Kyiv, who spoke exclusively to ABC News, said Russia had replaced older models of aircraft with its more modern Su-35.

..."

I'm sure your selective quoting had nothing to do with pushing a pro-Russia narrative what so ever.

Russia only has 110 Su-35 and 2 have already been confirmed as being shot down by Ukraine.

Actually I ended the quote before this:

''Ukraine "does not have capabilities" to counter this threat, the official added.''

Ukraine doesn't have the capabilities to counter the increased use of newer, Su-35 jets. There is a real possibility Russia will gain complete air superiority in eastern Ukraine.

Like you claimed they had in the first month or two of the war when you claimed Russia destroyed the Ukranian airforce and Ukranian air defense but didnt.

A Ukranian government official saying that Ukraine doesnt have the means to counter a threat and needs more weapons, what a shock.  It's almost as if it's a standard negotiation strategy to say something cant be done without more equipment.

Even then the reality is Russia only had 110 Su-35s and 2 of them have been shot down by Ukraine.  It does seem Ukraine has some means of countering Su-35s.

Your still claiming Russia will gain complete air superiority over Ukraine? A year later?

I`m not convinced that even a F-22 or Eurofighter would win in a dog fight with a Su-35, let alone an F-18.

They would have to hope they can down them with missiles before getting too close. I`ve seen how the Su-35 can move, its crazy. Our Western jets still haven`t caught up with it.
