All 30 NATO countries have ratified Finland's NATO bid

Only a few technicalities left before Finland joins NATO, essentially a letter needs delivered to Finland saying they can join and then Finland needs to write a response letter accepting it.

Will be interesting to see if Finland does this immediately or waits to see what happens with Sweden first and the Turkish elections.

It will be interesting to see Russia's reaction, as well.

Even though Sweden is still being blocked, this is great for Sweden because Finland is the one bordering Russia

That is a possibility, wouldnt be anything Finland hasnt had to deal with before.  Russia periodically tries to violate the airspace and naval territory of its European neighbors.

Russia to respond to Finland's NATO ascension by 'strengthening' military on border

Russia has vowed to "strengthen its military potential" along its border with Finland as a direct response to Finland’s accension to the NATO ranks on Tuesday.

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko was quoted by Russian news site RIA Novosti as saying the expansion of NATO called for "additional steps" in military security.

“In the event that forces and assets of other NATO members are deployed in Finland, we will take additional steps to reliably ensure Russia's military security," Mr Grushko said.

It's a defensive posture. The Russians don't perceive Finland as a threat.

NATOS EXPANDed TO THE BORDER OF RUSSIA!!!!!! THIS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED. PUTIN WILL NOT ALLOW IT

That was legitmetally you a couple months ago man. If Finland being a border nation to Russia isn't a existential threat or whatever. Then neither is Ukraine.

If they don't perceive Finland as a threat (which they aren't at the moment), then why the defensive posture?

Here are some explanations:

'' Ukraine has been described by experts such as John Mearsheimer[27] and Stephen Walt[28] as a buffer state between Russia and the NATO bloc,[27][28] at least up to the ousting of former President Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014''

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffer_state

''Ukraine is central to Russia's defensibility. The two countries share a long border, and Moscow is located only some 480 kilometers (about 300 miles) from Ukrainian territory -- a stretch of land that is flat, easily traversed and thus difficult to defend. If some power were to block the Ukraine-Kazakh gap, Russia would be cut off from the Caucasus, its defensible southern border.''

Russia seems be perceive Finland joining the NATO bloc as a destabilizing move. They are reacting by boosting their border's defense.

But Russia doesn't have any problem with Finland.

Lativa is the same distance to Moscow as Ukraine is. Lativa is part of NATO

Finland has a massive border with Russia and is right by Saint Petersburg

Putin's Ukraine excuse looks paper thin.

Ukraine and Belarus are the only countries remaining that can serve as buffer states between Russia and NATO.

It's obvious that Russia will not accept to be completely surrounded from all sides by the NATO bloc.

That's called propaganda in an attempt to have some kind of justification for the unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine.

Lativa has a direct highway route straight to Moscow. You can easily see it yourself on Google maps

Surrounded??? I wasn't aware China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan were in NATO. Must've missed those elections.

Certain posters seem to be unable/unwilling to look at a map.

Remember the old "Russia needs a port in the Black Sea", despite the fact that a quick look at a map will reveal they have several such ports.
