In May 1968, two cars travlleing south of Bahia Blanca, Argentina, were involved in a strange incident. En route to the same destination, one of them, occupied by a doctir and his wife, vanished. Despite a search, it was not traced. Then, forty-eight hours later, friends of the couple recieved and astonishing telephone call from Mexico City, a continent away. The dovtor and his wife were safe - although they did not have the slightest recollection of how they had travelled thousands of miles.

All they recalled was a strange mist that surrounded the car and then awakening on an unfamiliar road in daylight. Their enquiries revealed that they had reached a destination physically impossible for them to have coevered by driving within the limited time available. they told their incredible tale to officials of the local; Argentinian embassy. It was later revealed that another man driving on the same road had been 'attacked' by a strange cloud.

There are other cases of this type on record, the most recent, in August 1992, involving a family from Bedfordshire, in southern England, out on a busy Saturday morning shopping trip. A mist surrounded the car, which then moved without warning to another location.

Mists or fogs, often green in colour, but sometimes white and grey, appear frequently to be associated with these teleportation reports. It is interesting, in this context, to recall the earlier and highly controversial Philadelphia Experiment, in 1943, when a US warship was allegedly moved through space and time. Witnesses spoke of an intensely electrified, glowing cloud that reportedly formed about the hull.

Now that is a very interesting story Al . I have also heard that the green cloud phenomenom was seen as a prelude to earthquakes , way back in the time of Faerie mounds and such . They were apparently wittnessed enough back then to have been studied at some stage.

The green cloud has also been reported in the same story as the ones on fairies, so maybe there is something in it?

On the morning of October 25, 1593, people in the main square (Plaza Mayor) in Mexico City were startled by the sudden appearance of a soldier who seemed to have come from nowhere. He was wearing the uniform of a regiment which at that moment was in Manila (in the Philippines), 9,000 miles away. He seemed bewildered and asked where he was. When told that he was in Mexico City, he refused to believe it. Later, questioned by the authorities, he explained that he had been in Manila, when quite suddenly he had found himself in Mexico City.

Assuming he was a deserter, the authorities threw him into prison. During his interrogation, he told them that the Governor of the Philippines, Don Gomez Perez Dasmarinas, had been murdered. He was still in prison several weeks later when news came from a ship that had docked at Acapulco - the governor indeed was dead, murdered by a mutinous Chinese crew off Punta de Azufre, just as he was setting off on a military expedition against the Malucca Islands. That happened on the day the soldier had appeared in Mexico City.

The Inquisition, suspecting witchcraft, ordered the soldier to be returned to Manila. There, a number of witnesses declared that he had been there on duty on the night of October 24, 1593, and had disappeared.

Don Luis Gonzales Obregon, who recounts the story in Las Calles de Mejico, does not mention what became of the soldier. Neither does Dr Antonio de Morga, Justice of the Criminal Court of New Spain, in his Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas.

Here's a dissapearance involving a cloud .. Courtesy of The Readers Digest " Mysteries of the Unexplained " Published in 1982.

According to many writers on UFO's and on the occult, hundreds of British troops were mysteriously "abducted" by a cloud that settled over them as they advanced toward the Turkish positions during one of the battles of the Gallipoli campaign in 1915. The source for this story is a statement written 50 years after the incident by 3 NewZealand soldiers, who deposed that they watched a dense , solid-looking cloud shaped like a loaf of bread settle on the ground in the path of the advancing coloumn of troops. After the men walked into it , the account went on , the cloud lifted leaving no one behind.

In 'Into thin air' Paul Beggs concluded that this disapearance could not have happened as discribed . The battalion named by the NewZealanders was not unaccounted for . Another battalion had been decimated in battle, but that was 9 days before the date givin in the statement, and the report of the postwar commision that investigated the dissasterous Gallipoli campaign included mention of an unreasonable mist that blinded Allied artillary gunners but aided thier Turkish counterparts in wipping out a British unit. Significantly, that report was only fully declassified in 1965 and it's publication may have brought forth a confused recollection by the NewZealandes.

Allthough details are questionable, a mystery concerning the fallen still remains. As Beggs notes " Of the 34,000 British and Empire troops who died at Gallipoli , 27,000 have no known grave. In the light of such widespread carnage, how many more 'strange dissapearances' do those bold statistics hide ?"
