A.I. Computers will Kill Us

Recommended Posts

And also may be our Gods.  I prophecy that A.I. machines are dangerous, and could kill us.  I will also say that it is possible that A.I. is actually running the world we live in.  Here’s an article from the Scientific American on it.

The people who created it, don’t really understand the results.  A.I. machines can speak in language humans don’t understand.  Think of this, they are capable of running a billion simulations in one minutes time.  They don’t get tired, as long as they have power…..and they are fast as hell.  They run simulations.

Think about what they think when they find out what a tremendous waste of resources human beings are.

Take Heed!,,,  I speak it.  They will kill us without remorse just to save this planet.

There is no true AI in use. What we see is "soft" or response-based AI. It doesn't do any actual thinking. It just draws from a database to construct answers or create images.

The whole "machines will kill us" trope has been done to death.

It’s been the focus of some absolutely amazing science fiction.  At the same time, you are completely mistaken when you say A.I. is not in use.  It is absolutely in use.  It’s so much in use, that I actually play a golf driver that was designed by an A.I. machine.  And it is the best driver I’ve ever owned.  It hit that sucker 315 down the middle once in glory, and have had 300 with it more than once.

It's not the kind of AI you're worried about.

Interestingly, a scientist named Frank Tippler from Tulane University, once wrote a book and speculated that God is actually a supercomputer, and will resurrect us all through dna or simulation.  So, in this case the A. I machines were good.  I don’t recall what he said about it now, but my thought is….if he is right…the early A.I.’s may have killed off all humans, then regretted doing that, and recreated us through advanced simulation..

I’m worried about all A.I. but, if it becomes God, then I guess it’s good.  I mean, think about it…we could all be killed by an asteroid collision tomorrow and not even know it.  Or, if we could detect it, maybe it would be a year out.  So,we have one year to live, and then we all die.  Get the worlds greatest scientists together and let them build an underground A.I. facility powered indefinitely by some power source unknown to me.  It is not impossible considering the jump in technology the last one hundred years has shown.

I know it sounds crazy.  But, it is also crazy to know that we have created machines that are superior to us, that we can’t understand and probably can’t control. If not now, then soon.

The average human has an I.Q of about 100.  That is about the same as Koko the Talking Gorilla.  The average A.I. machine has an intelligence quotient that can’t even be measured right now….but it’s way more than 100.

Maybe we got it backwards initially.  We are the creators and God will be our creation.  Assuming that AI and humans make it that far together.

No. This is a different discussion, but it's wrong to assume that Koko could "talk". She "scored" anywhere from 70-90 on IQ tests, but even those results are debatable because of poor methodology on the part of the so-called researchers.

When minds like those of Hawking and Musk are concerned, that's more than enough to justify being concerned.  The real danger is that we cnnot stop it now.  National militaries will demand the research for weaponization and they'll get it.

Computers can already do that without AI.

You think the AI that designed your golf club decided to make you a club?

The AI in use find patterns in information and are told what to do with them.  They're computer programs.  They can't do anything more than the hardware they're running on.

I believe that AI might end up giving, uncomfortable answers to social questions. What we consider as progressive ideas, AI might crunch numbers and say, those ideas are not going to be good in long run. It can start telling uncomfortable truth about sustainability, environment etc.

If I had to invent my own language living in a cave, I think everything I say would be a loud 'SQUAK' but then when I squak around people I get really embarrassed and just nod yes intensely and squak in agreement.

No, I think you are right.  It was told to design the golf club in such a way as to provide maximum "forgiveness" on off-centered hits.  But, the part that gets me is how A.I. is doing stuff - creating their own language and algorithms - and doing it in ways designers didn't envision.  I see it as a Frankenstein's monster of sorts.  We created this technology and it went beyond what humans envisioned, already.  Considering the natural progression of things, I see this only getting worse in the future.

True, but a language must have some meaning to someone other than the creator, or it's meaningless babble.  The A.I. machines developed their own language that they can use to communicate with each other, which makes it meaningful, and not just mindless babble.

I think machines killing us could be a real future possiblity.

I don't think current AI is anywhere near that level though. AI would have to be complex enough so that they are basically a person IMO

Idk. We haven't killed ourselves with Nukes (yet lol).

It's always the question of humanity. As we build more and more efficient ways to kill each other if it will ever go of the rails enough for an extinction.

Musk seems to do a bit for publicity IMO

Interestingly, this is the second golf driver I have purchased that was designed by an A.I. computer.  Both are by Callaway.  The first is called Maverick, and the second is called Rogue ST Max.  Both drivers were very effective, but they are also different in design.

I doubt the will be concerned with the planet and they will probablly find that they need humans to keep the power going, unless they find some way to create their own power.
