So far all American estimates of Ukranian losses are approximately 100,000 casaulties

That is a horrific number of casualties.

For the life of me I cannot understand why support for this is continuing.

Ukraine committed its best troops to the defence of Bakhmut

Ukraine committed itself to a holding action to pin Russian troops down so they couldn't be deployed elsewhere. They fight from defensive positions while the Russian fight offensively, throwing themselves, piecemeal, into the teeth of a meatgrinder. Stay tuned for what happens elsewhere.

If support ends then Ukraine will undergo a genocide.  Its really not that hard to figure out.  At the start of the invasion when the Russian government and military were expecting a three day to a week war they brought tens of thousands of body bags and mobile crematoriums.  Those werent expected to be for the Russian soldiers.

You can continue to play the morale outrage game and try to pretend you hold some fake moral high ground cause you want the war to end but if the war ends without Ukraine liberating all the territory Russia took then the Ukranians living in occupied territory will likely be tortured and killed.

There are pictures of tanks.

And Russia withdraw its forces from Northern Ukrainian, it was not a liberation.

Hi Cookie

They withdrew because they could not hold it after invading so yes it was liberated from enemy forces.

Does anyone support this continuing?

I've been wanting Putin to end the war since day 1. As of yet he has not.

Because if it doesn’t stop in Ukraine, it’ll spread to places where ‘we’ are called on to fight instead of ‘them’. Our governments are supporting Ukraine because the other option is sending in our soldiers when the Russians get to a NATO country.

Prigozhin said that the southwestern outskirts of Bakhmut were abandoned by Russian troops and again came under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

I'm surprised Prigozhin made it out!

He did say the Russian military laid out mines behind them hoping that if they got in a rushed retreat they'd get not so friendly fired

Not to say he still may not fly out a window or have a beam dropped on his head somewhere down the road.

PMC "Wagner" threaten the Kadyrovites to repeat the Chechen war and destroy everyone.

In 1999, the battles for Grozny began, and in 2000 the Russian army wiped it off the face of the Earth and occupied it. “We can repeat Grozny 2000”, these are the pictures that Prigozhin’s PR began to distribute

No they haven`t, that US general who does the White House briefs announced 3-4 weeks back that so far in the whole conflict the Russians had lost somewhere between 35,000 and 50,000 soldiers. Thats the whole conflict. And he said its at least 200,000 Ukrainians soldiers dead.

Name the US general making these claims please, and where the info can be found.  I have looked and I couldn't find it.  I am open to fresh evidence if you care to present it.

Is this the part where everyone gathers around and chants "Fight ! Fight ! Fight !" to encourage the two drunken imbeciles we all hate to slug it out?

This is not his speech, but a CNN article about it: Russian ground forces 'bigger today' than at start of the war in Ukraine, general says | CNN Politics

I will have a look for his speech on YouTube later to see if its on anywhere.

I think Gen. Milley is making the cardinal error of accepting Russian combat stats as true, when in fact Russia lies all the time about everything.  Is Milley being put before congress to offer a worst case scenario or should he lose his job because he has a poor grasp of up-to-date intelligence?  In truth, Ukraine has destroyed well in excess of 300 jets, and another 300 helicopters.  They have also killed in excess of 200,000 Russian Federation troops, and destroyed well over half the operational tanks Russia has, not to mention most of its BTRs.  Milley is also ignoring the fact that the repeated Patriot interception of Kinzhals has put a huge dampener on Russian nuclear rhetoric.  We can also point to the rollback or Russian forces outside of Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson oblasts last year as proof that the Ukranian people are quite willing to fight hard and cleverly to drive out the aggressors.

The idea that a few dozen MLRS and tanks provided to an army which until recently wasn`t even properly trained, can inflict those kind of causalities against the worlds 2nd military power is severe Pinocchio territory.

Whats the kill ratio of trained forces vs untrained? 3 to1? How about an untrained conscript army with virtually no military assets? 20 to 1?

Hi Cookie

Which untrained forces are you talking about, Russian?

I have no idea what the true casualty numbers are, and neither do you, but I find it weird that you are belittling the army that stopped and then pushed back the "2nd military power". The Ukrainian army of today is a very different beast from the army of 2014.

They didn`t though.

Glorious British weapons, training, and intelligence did!

I acknowledge his occurred previously on 9 May. A note of information that the Ukrainians could have easily killed this chap as well but didn't. It has been demonstrated repeatedly the differences taken by both sides when faced with potential POWs.

"Russian soldier filmed begging Ukrainian drone for mercy after squadron wiped out"

As operations continue elsewhere, I wouldn't be surprised if another push occurs back here as well.

Yesterday Ukrainian forces took the important height near to the Bakhmut city. Now all the city is visible and Ruzzians are well targeted.

https://t.me/pilotblog/4670

Now that they have taken the high ground things will change in Bakhmut.
