Russian naval ship Ivan Khurs damaged

About a day or so ago the Russian surveillance ship Ivan Khurs came under attack from Ukranian suicide drone boats.  The Russian military claimed the attack was unsuccessful and that all the drones were intercepted, even releasing a video showing one of the drones being destroyed before reaching the ship.  The Ukranian government has released video from one of the drones that shows it making contact with the ship.

The Ivan Khurs hasnt been sunk but it has definitely been damaged by the drone attack.  Also shows why the Russian government can not be trusted with its public statements.

Seems the Ivan Khurs is traveling at about 0.8 knots, which is suggesting the Ivan Khurs is just floating in the water.  Given where the drone struck it probably damage the propulsion of the Ivan Khurs.  Another Russian naval ship has came to the area of the Ivan Khurs.

For such a super power, they sure are lousy at protecting their ships. Well done Ukraine, but you should have finished the job with missiles.

Slava Ukraini!

The Russian MoD denies the Ivan Khurs has been damaged at all and have been releasing videos supposedly of the Ivan Khurs in Sevastopol harbor.  The videos seem to be older videos or of ships that appear similar to the Ivan Khurs.

The Russian naval tug/recovery vessel Commander is still at the last known location of the Ivan Khurs.

Russian milbloggers are claiming the Ivan Khurs is seriously damaged and at risk of sinking but hasnt sunk yet.  According to the Russian milbloggers five suicide boat drones attacked the Ivan Khurs and that while three were intercepted two impacted the ship and done serious damage to the hull and knocked out propulsion.  They also say five Russian sailors and one Russian naval officer died in the attack.

NATO drones and reconnaissance aircraft have been flying unusual patterns over the area the Ivan Khurs was last known to be and continue flying those unusual patterns causing speculation that the Ivan Khurs is either sinking or already sunk.

Russia Says Destroyed Ukraine’s ‘Last Warship’

Russia’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday it had “destroyed” what it claimed was Ukraine’s last warship.

The landing ship Yuri Olefirenko was struck by “high-precision” Russian Aerospace Forces weaponry in the Black Sea port of Odesa on Monday, the Defense Ministry said in a daily briefing.

It was not immediately possible to verify Moscow’s assertion and Kyiv has not yet commented on the claim.

Ukrainian naval forces spokesman Oleh Chalyk declined to comment on the claim specifically, but said he "did not recommend paying attention" to Russian sources.

It's not even that its gossip, it's just blatantly not true.

The Ukranian navy isnt particularly big, navies are extremely expensive and Ukraine could put that money and resources to far more important things.  The Ukranian navy has like 4 landing ships, about 32 small attack craft (ranging in size from speed boats with heavy machine guns to approximately a corvette), a minesweeper, and approximately 100 other ships filling various auxiliary or logistic roles.

The landing ships Ukraine has are of practically zero value strategically.  Ukraine never had the ability to conduct a successful naval landing to begin with so targeting the landing ships is a complete and utter waste of resources.

Even then recently the Ukranian navy added a new small attack craft, smaller then a corvette but bigger then a speed boat and is armed with a cannon, so its incredibly unlikely that Russia completely sunk the last Ukranian warship.

Everything Ukraine says is true, everything the Russians say is false. That's your narrative. But as many of your predictions, this also is most definitely wrong.

What's been proven over, and over is that Russia has always preferred lies, and disinformation over truth. You should know that as you model your post's like Russia's.

They need a bunch more of those suicide drone boats. They seem pretty effective.

The Ivan Khurs is a great example.

Ukraine generally provides picture or video evidence of most of their claims, Russia almost never does and the few times they do provide video or pictures its normally not of what they claimed.

If you want to play the prediction game you claimed the Russian military was on the verge of taking multiple Ukranian cities which they never did, claimed the Ukranian airforce was destroyed, that Ukranian air defense was destroyed, if I remember correctly that Ukraine would never take back Kherson, and quite a few other wrong predictions and claims.  The thread might be locked but the posts are still there.

The suicide drone boats are effective if they make contact but so far they have shown to be relatively easy to intercept.  Given that the design of the suicide drone boats have been changing they will probably get increasingly difficult to intercept.

I saw the video link and there is nothing to suggest an explosion occurred.
