Several Jewish groups, politicians and an alliance of civil society groups are planning a memorial ceremony and a protest rally against a concert by Roger Waters in Frankfurt on Sunday evening.

They accuse the Pink Floyd co-founder of antisemitism, an allegation he denies.

Waters has also drawn their ire for his support of the BDS movement, which calls for boycotts and sanctions against Israel.

The man is a disgraceful old fool.

Anyone who puts as much effort into vilifying Jews, IS an antisemite.  He has made it the focus of his whole life and IMO, he deserves all the flak he gets.  Thankfully, as awareness grows about BDS, it is losing steam rapidly.

Pink Floyd star Roger Waters says he was opposing "fascism, injustice and bigotry" when he posed firing an imitation machine gun while wearing a Nazi-inspired uniform at a concert in Berlin.

"The elements of my performance that have been questioned are quite clearly a statement in opposition to fascism, injustice, and bigotry in all its forms," he added.

"Attempts to portray those elements as something else are disingenuous and politically motivated."

Waters said the depiction of an "unhinged fascist demagogue has been a feature of my shows since Pink Floyd's The Wall in 1980".

I would have assumed it was a satirical act, but then, I also figured/assumed Clapton wasn't a raging anti immigrant, bigoted @$$ hat as well... so my assumptions, like all others, are just stories our minds create for us.

At the least the potential for 60's-70's rockers to muck much more mud in our media is sincerely limited now.  tick tock. graveyard's are calling...

"Roger Waters' pro-Palestine activism is a lesson for the West"

'I have no choice but to fight against the Nazis that I have now in front of me,' said the rock musician'

This^ is his view on Israel vs the Palestinians.  Calling Jews NAZIs is a despicable affront.  He's using his name and fame to slander a nation that endures casualties of innocents from stabbings, car rammings, kidnappings, and various other assaults,  JUST FOR BEING JEWISH.  Of course, for him, any death of a Palestinian civilian is a war crime.  And it IS.  But the crime is being committed by the Hamas, Fatah, and PIJ who hide behind civilians after launching deadly, RANDOM attacks into Israel with rockets, mortars and missile of dubious accuracy.

In this last dust up, a full 25% of the nearly 1100 missiles from the peaceful people in Gaza, fell IN Gaza.  The media never mentions those or the children and old folks killed by them.

He and those like him dream of a day when Israel will be destroyed and removed as a nation state of the Jews.  They fail to mention that the Palestinians would then quickly be re-subjugated once more by their "Brotherly Arab" neighbors.  They also refuse to admit to their Jew-hate.  They're only "anti-Zionism".  They seem to set aside the fact that those attacks against "Zionists" kill Jews nearly 100% of the time.  It's disgusting.

You're one of those "Anyone who is anti-isreal is anti-semeitc" people.

The fact is that Isreal is an aparthied state and is guilty of gross human rights violation.

Obviously the ONLY Progressive solution to this problem is to ban the album The Wall and criminalize anybody listening to it moving forward.

Yea, it's pretty glaring.  Poor gal seemingly lumps every person in a country into one collective that all abide in complete agreement with their government's policies.  And then of a natural course, further lumps any folks who criticize said government and its polices as folks who then must hate those people.  The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one.  Bit clunky how this assumes then, that many jews in israel must be anti-semites.

Israel, the governing institution, regularly engages in state sponsored terrorism under the guise of retribution and actively surpresses the rights of those it occupies.  Plain and simple.  But to conflate criticism of the state with hating the people of the country... it's indicative of wilfull ignorance.

This kind of mental indistinguishability puts me in mind of this...

Oh boy! The price of my 1979 album will go up!

They'll just make radio stations stop playing them which is a shame.

Roger Waters has claimed that his critics are trying to cancel him “like they cancelled Jeremy Corbyn and Julian Assange”.

Waters took to the stage at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on Wednesday May 31, where he told a 15,000-person crowd that he was “p***ed off” at “the anti-semitism bull****” surrounding him over the last month.

The Pink Floyd member declared: “They’re trying to cancel me like they cancelled Jeremy Corbyn and Julian Assange. I will not be cancelled.”
