Three dead and five injured in shooting at US motorcycle rally

Three people have been killed and at least five injured in a shooting at a popular motorcycle rally in a New Mexico resort town.

The shooting at around 5pm local time on Saturday involved members of motorcycle gangs attending the 41st annual Red River Memorial Motorcycle rally.

It happened between two shops on Red River's main street.

One of the victims died in hospital. Information on the extent of the injuries was unavailable.

The victims were transported to hospitals in Denver, Albuquerque and the nearby town of Taos.

Local mayor Linda Calhoun said the shooters have been apprehended.

One man has been charged with murder. A few more have been charged with other offenses. Gang warfare.

There are more than 300 active outlaw motorcycle gangs across the country, according to the Justice Department, which says five of the gangs — the Hells Angels, the Mongols, the Bandidos, the Outlaws and the Sons of Silence — "pose a serious national domestic threat" and conduct most of the criminal activity, including international drug smuggling. It was not immediately clear which gangs were alleged to be involved in Saturday's shooting.

“There will be zero tolerance from this point forward,” he said. “That is traffic violations for one mile an hour over, seatbelt, jaywalking – we’re going to stop and talk to everyone if they violate any law, traffic or criminal.”

“Anybody who can be arrested, will be arrested. This is not going to happen again this weekend. Because we’re not going to allow it,” Johnson said.

“These gangbangers were lawless and what they are, are gangbangers who chose to have a three-day sleepover in New Mexico and not follow any of our laws,” he said. “That’s not going to be tolerated for the rest of this weekend, or any Memorial Days moving forward.”

I don't know. Maybe they will later. They also only charged one man with murder and there were three deaths. Are they sure he committed all three or will another person be named?

fortunately this is rare when you consider how many people there are on the planet (or in America if ya like) & how many guns
