Former Trump lawyer: Reported audio ‘eviscerates’ defense in documents investigation

Former Trump administration White House lawyer Ty Cobb said late Wednesday that an audio recording that reportedly reveals former President Trump discussing a classified document he took from the White House “eviscerates” Trump’s defense in the Justice Department’s (DOJ) classified documents probe. 

Cobb said in an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett that the recording undermines Trump’s previous arguments that he could declassify documents just by taking them out of the White House or that he could declassify them simply by thinking about it.

<facepalm>  If you doing recorded interviews with people doing your autobiography, you probably shouldn't brag about how you have secret documents that you can't show people because they are classified.  Because, you know, it's recorded.....   And it does shoot down his defence that he can psychically declassify stuff after he gets caught showing them to people at Mar a Lago.

I dunno, plans to attack Iran are pretty critical value to me.  Which is of course the secret documents he mentioned in this recording (and apparently the investigators were unaware of previously).

I don't see how they could be unaware of that.  I wonder how may countries we have designed attack plans against?

That is the problem with classified documents and the Trump mindset. If there was a planned attack on Iran it should have not left the room, in written or verbal. This info is now gold, pure gold, for Putin, the ayatolahs and their allies. How can you be so stupid, unlesd you wanted a favour, monetary or otherwise?

How?  They don't have the plans.  Do you think they didn't know we have a plan?  I bet we have plans on how to attack nations that are friendly to us as well.  I'm not justifying trump having the documents I'm just saying.....

Honestly, if I were in charge of the military, I would have plans to attack all of them.  You know, just in case.

In this time just a slight confirmation is enough, especially when it comes from the top top. Don't you think that this can now be used against the US by Iran and Russia as a planned aggression on a souveraigne state, regardless of what the state or country is? Remember  we have the war in Ukraine. Much could change there with the info.

No.  I'm sure they know for a fact that they have hundreds of nuclear missiles ready to be launched at them in minutes.

I've have a theory as to why Trump was raided in the first place and I reiterate that it is only a theory.

Trump declassified the Crossfire Hurricane report and it has yet to be released and according to this article it has some serious damning information.

A point to consider, but what else could they say?  If the document referred to joint plans and coordination between the US and Israel, then they are compromised too.   Unless those documents are back in the hands of the USG, then they can be considered floating around loose.  Since there is only a tape, we don't know exactly what the documents were.  But I bet plenty of people who spend every day gathering intelligence for their respective countries are working as maids, butlers, and groundskeepers and Trump properties.

Still it could be perfectly innocent.  In Trumps defense, he could say they were blank pieces of paper and he was only trying the impress the interviewer with the cute butt since Melania has cut him off.

Hell, the weenies in the funny-shaped building have such plans drawn up and revised to attack even our allies.  It's been that way for years.  Bottom line is Trump is going to be indicted, he'll be tried in a location where a jury conviction is inevitable and his polling and campaign contributions will both rise.  Why?  Because his supporters aren't idiots.  We've seen this movie for over 6 years.

I don't know. I said there is a possibilty for Putin to get out of the war as the winner. It does not have to happen but in situations like that everything is possible.

In the words of Macron: we should have listened to eastern europeans on russia. He get's it now.

Ovi, Israel has openly said many times they will attack Iran. Other countries have said the same about attacking Israel or other countries. The real danger is when they are quiet about it and a provisory plan get's leaked. That's why they are called classified.
