What and how much (in $billions) UK was exporting to Australia before brexit?

Virtually nothing. That has the great benefit of increasing our exports to them by tremendous amounts. For example, if we sell them two cases of gin instead of the one previously, we have increased our exports by 100% (or 'doubled' them, for the benefit of Brexiters as they have trouble with percentages).

This is what we are teasing them with:Britain marked the occasion by sending the Australian and New Zealand governments care packages of products it hopes will get an export boost, including Welsh whiskey, English gin, leather bags from the Cambridge Satchel Co. and Beano, a kids’ comic book.UK hails first post-Brexit trade deals with Australia, New Zealand, but impact likely small - ABC News (go.com)

In exchange, we will be able to stock our supermarkets with Tim-tams, and say goodbye to our farming industries.

And what Aussies export to UK? Resources (gold, lead) plus p*** in the bottles (2021), while UK exported high end products.

I don't get it, why Channel 9 folks are so smug? Ah, yeah, being resource appendage to the World economy is what to be proud of...

Brexit might have been right thing to do, though implementations aren't that good.

As for Tim-tams, buy UK produce, even if its a bit more expensive.

The main problem is the harm it will do to our farming (it also is a poor deal, estimated to benefit the UK economy by 0.08% over 15 years). Farmers were told CAP, which rewards acreage, would be replaced by subsidies which would be bespoke and reward smaller, diverse, eco-friendly farms. Instead the subsidies are less than CAP and due to be tapered off and ended after 5 years. The plan is to replace UK farm produce with imports.  The farmers were lied to, to get them to support Brexit.

As for Tim-tams, buy UK produce, even if its a bit more expensive. That never works. Ever. Especially when the economy is contracting and people have less money. The wealthy, of course, always have and always will buy better quality stuff.

I still not get it, average farmer base salary (per year) in Australia $58,720 (in AUD?), in UK £19,595.  (AUD:GBP ~ 2:1). How then Aussie produce is cheaper (transportation included) than grown in UK?

Well, I'm buying localy grown, and I'm far from being wealthy.

PS there are so many illegals in UK. Make proposition to them: be deported, or work in farms.

1.Economies of scale and less consideration to welfare so production is cheaper.

2. Lucky you. Most people, including the poorest in the UK are already squeezed by 20% food inflation and have no money to buy home grown stuff.

3. It is currently against the law for asylum seekers to do paid work, and is government policy not to process their applications to allow them to.

British agriculture is simply not able to compete with the efficiencies of Australian agriculture.  Australia's agriculture is now a highly diversified and broadly competitive with every major agricultural economy, often leading in agricultural research, and having nationwide resources to call upon.  Add to this a lack of tariff protections due to free trade deals that have trimmed so much excess fat from Australian agriculture that it is somewhat "over-evolved".   They even scare the USA's burgeoning agriconglomerates.
