Russia accuses Ukraine of mounting ‘sabotage’ attack across border

A group of anti-Putin Russian nationals – who are aligned with the Ukrainian army – has claimed responsibility for an attack in Russian’s southwestern region of Belgorod, as Moscow said it was fighting a group of saboteurs there.

Except that it is the Free Russians conducting the attacks and everyone knows it.  Plus they seem to be gaining ground at an impressive rate for such limited forces.  Most crazy of all, we have the Russians looting their own people while also shelling Russian civilian districts with illegal phosphorus bombs.  It seems General Lapin is the largest liability Russia possesses, as he can't even manage a garrison defense against a small border incursion.

We in the West need to provide the Russian military with badly needed supplies of plastic red noses, oversized shoes, multicolored fool's motley, and some old school brass honking horns.

Well it’s debatable at this stage who is behind this movement. It’s a step in the right direction for Ukraine, forcing Russia to pull back troops to defend its own country. If it was me, I would have rather set up a clandestine drone attack unit and quietly attacked infrastructure than openly announce a rebellion.

Hi UT

Could be that they may try and take control of the nuclear storage site nearby to put a crimp in Putin's plans to launch nukes Belarus

Speaking of sabotage. Ukraine allegedly blew up the Kakhovka dam, triggering flooding that will wash away Russian positions on the left bank of Dnipro and allow a Ukrainian amphibious assault.

Will cause the Russians to reposition troops and equipment and allow Ukraine to attack and catch Russia flatfooted. Interesting tactic.

UT, the covert time is over.  The attacks you describe have already been going on for months.  Belgorod is a major logistics hub for the Russians and it needs to be threatened or neutralized.  The Free Russians represent an open and vocal propaganda threat to Putin's regime and legitimacy.  The fact that the Russian soldiers are on a rampage, sacking Shebekino and bombarding their own civilian population with white phosphorus adds further legitimacy to the Free Russian cause.

Add to that, opening up a northern front inside Russia proper is a slap in the face that Putin cannot ignore.  At a time when Russia is losing forces everywhere, this kick in the rear means they will have to send forces they can't afford to remove from other places ahead of an attack into the Belgorod region to stop a rebel breakout.  In the meantime, where will Ukraine's hammer blow fall?  I know what I'd be doing if I were in Ukraine's high command.

Yes it’s embarrassing for Putin.

Hi jmcct88, pal.  You will find that since US Patriot systems intercepted the Kinzhal missiles all the Russian Nuclear rhetoric (aka B.S.) has gone silent, and Russian Propaganda TV has said that anyone who still talks about a nuclear option is a traitor who hates Russia and wants Russian cities destroyed by NATO.  We assume that the Free Russians didn't steal a bunker-load of tac nukes outside of Belgorod, but you never know... Perhaps it was the Free Russians who took the nukes and  that is contributing to the Russian nuclear backdown too?  Fog of war.

Translation (main idea):
Ruzzian command has probably a stupid Idea to drop a tactical Nuclear bomb on its own territory to show the world the mighty power and how crazy sick we are. Because Ruzzian army scared of dropping nukes on other countries. Probably that is why we are leaving the territories in Belgorod region. Also it is a big question weather the bomb will work based on the chaos in the Ruzzian army.

Prygozhyn, it is time for you to move to Moscow… all bridges are destroyed for you… civil war awaits Ruzzia…

This is a comment by Prigozhin from on of his blogs yesterday, in another comment he said that if Russia doesn't contain the situation in the next 2 weeks that he will take his men to Belgorod. Not sure how well he will do there as he will need arms supplies and Russians don't care about Russians in that region given they have bombed their own towns.
