The only way I have eaten them is cooked with ham hocks or bacon, onion and peppers.   The strong taste mellows out and goes well with the other ingredients.   

That's the only way I know how to cook them as well.

The part about the genetic malfunction whether from drugs, alcohol or a genetic chromosome disorder is a new discovery.
