Is the Story of Noah the worst teaching in the Bible?

10And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

11The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

12And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

13And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

14And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

Eden/Eridu was the source of the "river," which was barely a trickle.  It flowed northeast to "the garden," which was the marsh east of Eden.  Now:  turn and go upstream along the Shatt-al-Arab.  The river "divides" into four branches, as listed.  The Pison which was then a river, is now Wadi Al-Batin.  It compasseth the whole land of Havilah (Arabia) where there is gold (at Mahd Al Dahab).

Gihon does not compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.  This is a mistranslation.  The name of the African country is Kush.  Kush is a perfectly good word in several languages still spoke, meaning "mountain," as in Hindui Kush.  The KJV translators got the two mixed up.  This is the Karkun.

The Hiddekel is the Tigris.  It passes east of Assyria, coming out of the Zagros Mountains north of the Karkun.

Interpretation not in evidence. Basically your personal opinion and nothing more.

Check out research articles on the excavations.  Then engage your brain.  The Persian Gulf is salt water.  The residents of Eridu needed water to drink.  They had to get it somewhere.  That little spring was the reason Eridu even existed.  With it, there was a "river" of Eden.  Without it, there wasn't even a place to live.

Again, we may be looking at translation problems.  What the English authors of the KJV thought of as a "river" was not the same as what the biblical authors meant.

But, if you'd rather replace my observations with your personal opinions, go ahead.  Even peer reviewed scientific journals include interpretations of the observed data.

And this discussion is irrelevant to Noah's Flood and the topic of this thread.  Let's either take it somewhere else, or shut it down.

Your observations come up short:

There was no "little spring" as you've claimed, but there were MULTIPLE channels of the Euphrates that ran much, MUCH closer than the river does today.

I'd rather listen to the the professionals:

The Cambrian explosion happened more than 500 million years ago. It was when most of the major animal groups started to appear in the fossil record, a time of rapid expansion of different forms of life on Earth.  Science News by Josh Davis

You only quoted one paragraph from the article. The rest just repeated what I said.

You know nothing about the Cambrian Explosion nor paleontology and geology in general, and couldn’t understand it if you tried.

You wouldn’t make it past the title page without your brain automatically defaulting to “smoke and mirrors”.

Since you're all-knowing, why not sum it up for us, pal?

The a$$hat returns. Only two and a half months late.

Who exactly is US? You mean you, right?

It would be like trying to explain astrophysics to a dung beetle, that’s why. Stick to what you’re already bad at, like biblical comprehension.

Here’s an idea: instead of asking others to educate you, try not talking out your a$$ in the first place about things you don’t understand. Funny how you and those like you reject science yet nevertheless always try to use it when you mistakenly believe it could lend a shred of legitimacy to your nonsensical statements. Doesn’t your religion teach you not to be a hypocrite? Or is that just for everyone else and not you?

You’re not anybody’s pal, especially not your own.

Since you’re obviously incapable of doing it yourself, I’ll get you started. When attempting to learn about a scientific subject, maybe try with a book written by, I don’t know, scientists?  You’re welcome.

Is it just me or do the religious members (faith pushers) all sound the same?
