Does anyone think the ‘rectangle with lines’ abstract symbol, that appears to be a body with four kegs… above the horse, might say “horse” or at least a letter pertaining to horse/equine.

It could be any number of things, without other context.

A fence, for instance.

A gate

A comb

A tally

An aerial view of a kiling pen

Stylized bear claw

Stylized cave lion claw

Clan totem

Clan marker symbol

Family symbol

Some guy's graffiti symbol for their name

Fishing weir

Top-and-side view of a table (like the Egyptians did)

A horse painted near an already existing older design

Graffiti painted near the horse in later times

Diagram of a four-legged stool

...and so on and so forth.

Is it of the same age as the painting of the horse?

Would you be meaning exhaled ?

.

Yes!

I am not an Angry Saxon, so I make typos. Or mistakes, whatever.

I don't know what was in my mind when I posted 'exhumed', heh.

Which is kind of a false dichotomy.  If you'd given them the time and the materials and the access to these materials then you'd see the same kinds of art.

Also, you're not really focused on these art works but on your concept (probably based on a limited number of samples) of how the art works.

THIS is medieval stained glass, for example

virgin-mary.jpg

And this is medieval (Gothic) art:

Limestone Head of Joseph, Limestone with traces of polychromy, French

Tell that to Puzzler, not to me.

interesting, but it could also depict a trap on how to capture them and finishing them of with an axe (also depicted) the grass shown is what it eats or where to hide the trap.

lol it was a ancient barber shop. Horse hair style (modern day we would call it punk mohawk style) a comb is depicted and shaving tool made in obsidian and wax made by animal fat. I wonder what the price was?
