Grim Reaper 6 Posted July 27 #1 Share Posted July 27 A court in France sentenced a United Airlines pilot to a six-month suspended prison term and one-year suspended license for showing up to work intoxicated Tuesday, local media outlets reported. The pilot, reportedly a 63-year-old American only called “Henry W.” in French media, showed up to work at Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport with a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit for pilots in Europe. According to a statement by United sent in an email to The Hill, the flight was headed to Washington-Dulles International Airport, despite other reports it was going to Dallas. +Desertrat56 Posted July 27 #2 Share Posted July 27 Thank goodness. I remember in the 70's when I flew on different airlines it seemed that the pilots were always drunk. 1 1

They were not drunk; they were High, and I am not talking about altitude!!!!!

Back in the 1970s, you could smoke cigarettes on planes during flight. Well, this pilot told me that they use to smoke joints in the Cockpit during long flights. It, kind of freaked me out because he also said while they were High, they would just put the plane on Autopilot and monitor the instruments, that is just crazy!!!! People certainly put too much faith in the Airline pilots, and this thread clearly shows how irresponsible some are! 2

It is probably why all the stewardesses on American Airlines are always p***ed off. And if you fly on Southwest on a Friday afternoon the pilot will tell jokes over the loud speaker the whole way.

This is pretty scary stuff, especially with all the Airline Accidents over the past 5 years. I suppose you just have to get on board and hope for the best, no sense worrying about!!!!

My mother's Aunt used to take ships to go to South America or Europe in the 50's & 60's. She said it was the time she used to catch up on her reading and she would not take passenger ships, she would find a cargo ship that would take a random passenger.
