Lawmakers want subpoena power in UFO inquiries

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are looking to expand their investigative power following their July hearing on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), or UFOs, which they say left more questions than answers.

Reps. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) and Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) joined The Hill’s event last week, “The Truth Is Out There: UFOs & National Security.”

They emphasized the hearing only scratched the surface of existing intelligence on UFOs, partly because former intelligence official David Grusch, their star whistleblower, said he was unable to present classified evidence to substantiate his claims.

The trio of lawmakers are among those now leading a push for Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) to appoint a select committee on UAPs, though they have not yet heard back on the request.

Quoted from article:

“If we’re reverse-engineering technology based on stuff that has crashed landed here from other civilizations, we can’t just tell the American people that’s not true forever,” Moskowitz said. “The American people deserve to know.”

If not true then how can the authorities prove it's not true?

It's highly likely 'not true' is 'the truth' IMO.. If so then the American people WILL be told it's not true= forever.

More seats to fill on the ever growing: 'ufo/ aliens on this planet' band wagon I guess. Good luck to em I say:tu:

If they were to get subpoena powers and access to the right documents that show it to be true then it's true and if they can find no such documentation then it's not true.  Just my guess.  I would also guess that if it is true all of this information has long since been moved to the private sector and will never be seen by any elected official again.

Yes, they need subpoena powers.  We can finally get some traction and honesty on the issue.  Take that, Fermi Paradox!

Not gonna happen.

Rep Mike Turner represents Ohio's 10th congressional district. The Ohio 10th congressional district includes Wright-Patterson AFB.

Financial disclosures show that during the 2022 campaign cycle, Turner received $12,900 from L3Harris Technologies and $12,900 from Lockheed Martin. In the 2020 election cycle, Lockheed Martin donated $64,350 to Turner, making him the firm's third-highest House donee. Turner received $20,000 from L3Harris. In the 2018 cycle, he received $27,750 from BAE Systems and $13,700 from Lockheed.

Before I'd give them subpoena power, I'd like to make some restrictions.

Make sure they can only subpoena people that are connected to a UFO incident. Issuing power to those folks is dangerous.
