Imagine moving into a new home, eager to start a new chapter, only to stumble upon a hidden treasure trove of history and mystery. This incredible discovery unfolded for Cathy, 51, and Roy Aukamp, 52, in their recently acquired house in New Jersey, USA. While repairing their storm-damaged basement wall, they were astounded to find hundreds of concealed rum bottles pouring out. Their find has not only left them astonished but has also captivated the interest of social media users.

The surprising moment occurred just two days after they moved into their new residence. Speaking to Caters News, Cathy recounted the surprising moment, saying, “My husband had to remove wet plasterboard and all these bottles came pouring out of one of the walls. The person who did it saw the video after it went viral and reached out and said there are hundreds more but also that he is now three years sober."

At first glance of this article, I immediately thought it might be an alcoholic.  When caught up in the disease we do some very strange things.  I have to say though, hiding his empties inside a wall is a new one.  I've never heard of that before.  Anyway, kudos to him on 3 years of sobriety!

And there's "hundreds more"?

Though I'm sober now too, the unexplained mystery in this case might be how he is even still alive.

My question is why the person who hid the bottles in the wall didn't just throw the bottles away?

I do wish headlines were worded correctly. They aren’t bottles of rum but rum bottles!

The picture doesn't show any trace of flooding on the wall or mud at the floor.

On the video it shows the lower portion of the walls, cut as if drywall was removed.

For the floor I would have cleaned that up first, before tackling the walls, which could explain why there is no mud on it now.
