+OverSword Posted September 13 #1 Share Posted September 13 Quote X, formerly known as Twitter, did not take action against a majority of posts with “extreme hate speech,” according to a new report from an anti-hate-speech organization. Research from the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), an organization that tracks online hate speech and misinformation, found X did not take action against 86 percent of posts containing hate speech when monitored, according to a report published Wednesday. Taking a sample of 300 posts from 100 accounts that were categorized as having hate speech, CCDH researchers found 259, or 86.33 percent, of the 300 posts were still up on the platform one week after being reported to moderators. The CCDH said 90 out of the 100 accounts also remained active. Link 3 Top
Hawken Posted September 13 #2 Share Posted September 13 Hate speech nowadays can be simply disagreeing with someone. They don't like a link you provide to prove a point and report it as hate. 3 2 Top

+and-then Posted September 13 #4 Share Posted September 13 “Impunity for loud bigots creates a hostile environment for the victims of abuse and most folks who don’t want to venture into a cesspit of hatred every day,” he continued. Just a little trip down memory lane. This^ is exactly how Twitter operated during the entirety of Trump's tenure in office. Hypocrites don't deserve much consideration. If Musk left up actual calls for violence, I'd have a problem with that but letting hateful people rant does more to warn the public than harm it, IMO. 5 Top

I've never been on X (twitter) but according to multiple sources, especially team twitter being interviewed on various podcasts you are correct, it does sound a bit like the shoe may be on the other foot. 2 Top

I only go there occasionally when it's used as a source for something I'm interested in but even today, even with Musk being a supposed right wing type (ridiculous), the majority of opinions still flame against Orange Man Bad. Maybe I haven't seen the antisemitism or racism because I go there so seldom. 2 Top

But of course there are double standards. 1 Top

Your American presidential elections are a nightmare for people living outside of the US of A. "What incompetent idiot will they chose next?" The nightmare is of course based on the US of A being one of the socalled 'super powers'. I once said in jest, that they should elect Lewis Black as the next president. I'm afraid it's even a serious possibility. 3 Top

But when he was in office. I was paying around $2.20 for gas a gallon. Around $1 for eggs a dozen and my retirement was growing. The first year he was in office (2017) I made 20% on my retirement. With Biden, I lost 12% on my retirement in 2022. People here act like Trump is that A-hole boss they have to deal with everyday at work. A lot of people put their emotions over logic. 2 Top

I don't agree with his political decissions, but he doesn't come across as an idiot. Trump did.
F3SS Posted September 15 #13 Share Posted September 15 Why do I have the feeling that all the hate speech they found is predominantly "whites who hate" speech? That's really the only kind that's ever mattered anyway. 1 Top

Have you ever watched the 2006 movie "Idiocracy" perchance? While it only rates a 6.5, it often seems uncannily prescient. And please understand that people within the USA suffer a nightmare every bit as acute as our dear satrapies Allies. 2 1 Top
Alchopwn Posted September 16 #15 Share Posted September 16 I looked up the "Center for Countering Digital Hate": Center for Countering Digital Hate Website They do seem a bit thought police-ish for my liking, and I certainly can't see myself donating to any of their campaigns, they have mainly gone after Neo-Nazis and Anti Vaxxers. 1 Top
+Hammerclaw Posted September 16 #16 Share Posted September 16 (edited) Most of the one's doing the reporting are the one's doing the hating. There's a difference between hate speech and speech you hate. Edited September 16 by Hammerclaw 3 1 Top

The courts have other ideas however. 1 Top
