The White House sent a letter to top US news executives on Wednesday, urging them to intensify their scrutiny of House Republicans after Speaker Kevin McCarthy launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, despite having found no evidence of a crime.

“It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies,” Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel’s Office, wrote in the letter, which was first obtained by CNN.

The letter, which said an impeachment inquiry with no supporting evidence should “set off alarm bells for news organizations,” was sent to executives helming the nation’s largest news organizations, including CNN, The New York Times, Fox News, the Associated Press, CBS News, and others, a White House official familiar with the matter said.

Maybe the White House hasn't noticed but news outlets are already doing that.  Maybe something else that should set off alarm bells is the White House giving directives to news outlets on how to cover the news

When you look at it realistically, all the Rs have done is to move to invoke authority to demand bank records that the Bidens have refused to produce.  Their response to such a simple request (for anyone unworried about what will be found) should tell everyone they are seriously worried about what the records will prove.

If that is actually the case.  Everyone here seems to be under the impression that they have been handed everything they request and interview everyone they want to interview.  I guess we will find out eh ;)

The 5th Circuit Court has already slapped them with a restraining order telling the FBI and the CDC to stay away from social media.

They need to shut them down completely in regards to dictating the narrative. Freedom of the Press means the press is allowed and almost obliged to print the truth. Unfortunately that isn't what we have.

The CDC can't recommend social media take down post related to public health misinformation but the president can call Gerogia's election officals and tell them to find him votes

All news has a slant. It also came out two years ago that Trump's white house and Fox news communicated pretty often (text messages). It's good to view all media with a grain of salt.

I have no problem with administration sending public letters to news, advocating for their side of the story.

Emphasis on public. In this case CNN just showed the letter. But if they didn't I really think it should have been public info.

I guess once they report that it was done then it's public weather it was meant to be or not :P

But rather than letters to the media they should have called for it at their daily press conference.

It does make me curious if letters are sent that aren't public.

I have no problem with the white house sending letters to the media. But we should know about the contents. (Excluding extreme homeland security stuff)

Alan Dershowitz who was Gore's lawyer stated that Gore and his staff did basically the same thing.

Now! Show me your outrage.

So show me where he was charged and convicted then maybe you have an argument, but until then indulge your own fantasies and leave them out of the forum.

You do not have any concept of what a lawyer actually does and neither does the hit piece by "the cut". I very seldom read an article that is so misaligned to actual facts as that one.

Alan Dershowitz usually takes on a case where the constitutional rights of the accused are being violated and he only represents a client "once".

As I stated before you are entirely welcome to indulge your own fantasies. But like they say Garbage In Garbage Out.

An Den?  An What?  You guys are way behind the times when you use attacks of Fox as an attack on conservatives.  Murdoch's golden network flushed itself in 2020.

Can you provide a link that shows when and what they have "refused to produe"?

I see a couple of problems with the whole original statement.

1) If they exist, are evidenence of some sort of crime, and being referenced by posters/news commentators then shouldn't they already have it?

2) Can't they just supoena the banks for this information?

Sorry, not actual news, just Democrat rhetoric.
