I watched a few of his videos.  I remember telling my daughter he better be careful, he was going to touch a nerve. At this point I don't know what to believe.

It's not necessarily about big pharma making money (although that is a big incentive to ignore the side effects) it's more about bodily autonomy & the state chipping away at civil liberties & using and changing laws & using it against people as we saw in Canada. Leftists generally are all for big state intervention while conservatives generally are for less state intervention.

Those ideas are contradictory. The right want less state intervention but more chipping away at civil liberties. That's what I find confusing. The Right think Free Speech is fine, unless it criticises them - then it's woke. Civil liberties are precious, but not if they give liberty to the poor and minority groups.

It may well be Russell Brand survives this, but the truth is he is a vile unfunny person, who exploits his followers who are marginally more stupid than he is. He is very like Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson in that respect.

This was a kind of shocking headline. I've enjoyed his meteoric rise on YouTube. I watch him on occasion but I can only take small doses. Half the time I can't understand what he's saying. I've definitely had an eyebrow raised for some time wondering if he's exploiting his audience. His video titles are very clickbaity. He seems genuine but he's also talked heavily about what a drugged out mess he used to be and that he was definitely a sexual deviant. I read a list of his accusations and they certainly seem to line up with how I'd imagine a wild, drug fueled, young and famous narcissist might behave. Who knows right now. Sounds crazy.

On the flip side, what doesn't sound crazy, or surprising I should say, is that he is definitely in the sphere of big mouths exposing/railing against the elites and they all seem to get leveled sooner or later and in grand fashion. I found out about this from Don Jr's. Instagram where he posted a picture of Brand, Andrew Tate, his dad and some guy I don't recognize and they're all in that sphere. It's only odd because they all share that same trait. Mouthing off with a big audience. Again, who knows but I think Don Jr. should chill before he embraces Brand so quickly.

He is a hypocrite. He makes millions of pounds each year, pandering to the far-Right on platforms owned by millionaires, telling people with often very little that what they do have will be stolen from them by people with even less. Previously, he pandered to the far-Left but now he has realised there is more money to be made from the Right. This is an interesting discussion:

You talk with such confidence that your view is correct yet its obvious from your comment you have never watched any of his shows.

.He does not pander to any position on the political spectrum. What he does do, is express the right to freedom of speech by talking about those things some would like to silence. He does talk about the flaws in the coronavirus vaccine research, he does point our own propaganda on Russia, what Brand does is talk about the elephants in the room.

Wonder when the Dispatches documentary of Huw Edwards & Philip Schofield will be airing?

I have seen bits of his TV shows, my son was an admirer of his about 10 years ago. I admit I don't watch his stuff now, as he is embarrassingly unfunny and pretentious. Good at making money though.

Not if it is made honestly. He makes his wealth by exploiting the vulnerable (a bit like Farage in that, I suppose).

We really should all do a sweepstake on how many posts during a debate it takes for you to mention Brexit. :D

He talks about things which will attract attention and make him money.

No different to writing a book "proving" aliens built the pyramids - which will sell much more copy (and get much more media attention) than one saying it was built by Egyptians using copper tools and brute man power.

I suspect travelling to his second home in the Dordogne has got a lot more complicated for him since Brexit.

No, it's just going to a supermarket and seeing inflated prices for food close to its sell-by and the lack of choice, and hearing how the cost of living crisis is hitting the poorest the most, and how our farmers and fishermen are cutting back investment, and how our industry is being hit by non-tariff barriers, and our science is being hindered- those are the things that annoy me. And the increased legal and illegal immigration and lack of staff for hospitality, care and other service industries.

But what hurts the most is the knowledge that the people who have benefited from Brexit, the millionaires and the billionaires, are still getting the support of the people who are hardest hit. And they are people who can't name even one benefit of Brexit.

Go on, you Brexit supporters- list ten benefits of Brexit so far. Okay, three. Okay, one.

Russell's dad has said his son raping a few women is small beans compared with the war in Ukraine and all the climate change catastrophes occurring around the world. True, maybe, but let's see how the courts view it:

“Is this seriously the most important thing happening in this world?” he asked. “Immigrants? Cost of living? 10s of thousands killed in Ukraine? Who is prioritising at BBC News. Who is really driving this vendetta?”

Our most popular newspaper in the UK, the Sun, owned by Rupert Murdoch, has a reading age of 11 years. Even that is too high for the Right wing, who want to cut back of public services especially education.

He will be. Just like Trump. The wheels of justice turn slow, but they turn.

I'm sure. Time will tell. Is it true the age of consent is 16 in the UK? I wasn't anticipating that. There's certain things I'd rather not Google.

Anything is possible but when charges like this only surface after several years, I tend to think it's more about revenge and money than anyone actually seeking justice.

Too right on that!  You never know when an opinion shared online might set you up to be a target and an investigation of your search habits can be used against you by a corrupt DA or other government entity.
