How will museums of tomorrow tell the Covid pandemic story?

Covid's arrival in early 2020 threw organisations and businesses into turmoil. But while most workers grappled with furlough, social distancing and working from home, a small band of museum officers sensed history was in the making. This is one museum service's story of trying to collect items in real-time to capture the pandemic story for future generations.

It's good that they'll share the story of how the world reacted, but I hope that eventually they'll also report the whole story, without the moralizing about the reactions of some... about the real doubts that people had about how governments handled the situation and the consequences of those actions...

How many Museums today or during the 20th Century made a big deal about Spanish Influenza?  There is every chance that this disease that derailed the Global Economy will be swept under the rug and forgotten ASAP so greedy officials don't have to worry about funding quarantine facilities or improvements to health, let alone putting together a coherent policy for handling future pandemics.  Of course there will BE no future pandemics because technology... Yeah, right.  We are a remarkably stupid species in many ways, one must recall.  Past behavior is an excellent indicator of future costly errors.

I don't think the real story will ever be told until maybe 50 years from now.  There will be hints that it was huge mass delusion and some giggles / laughs about how it was handled.  There will be conspiracy theorist who know the real story, but much like today, those folks will probably be ostracized.

I wonder if people are going to donate vaccine cards or a bottle of hand sanitizer as a relic to these museums.

SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in tandem with the subsequent vaccination initiative are analogous to WWI in terms of historical importance.
