Pascagoula alien abduction remains an enigma 50 years on

The book he wrote, My Story, is interesting if also rambling.

Aviation journalist and UFO skeptic Philip J. Klass found "discrepancies" in Hickson's story, noted that Hickson refused to take a polygraph exam conducted by an experienced examiner, and concluded that the case was a hoax. Skeptical investigator Joe Nickell wrote that Hickson's behavior was "questionable" and that Hickson later altered or embellished his claims. Nickell speculated that Hickson may have fantasized the alien encounter during a hypnagogic "waking dream state", and suggested that Parker's corroboration of the tale was likely due to suggestibility because he initially told police he had "passed out at the beginning of the incident and failed to regain consciousness until it was over", a claim supported by Hickson during his To Tell the Truth appearance.

As always with these tall tales, all we have is someone saying something and we are left with the believe it or not... I choose the latter.

The descriptions given of the aliens sounds so strange. A claw for an arm/hand...? yikes, hard to swallow

And the stuff Hazzard posted is just frosting on the cake.

I was 12-years-old that summer and lived about an hour or so away from where it occurred.  Those two guys were absolutely brutalized by the news stations, friends, neighbors and strangers.  Their "made up story" cost them far, far more than it ever benefited them.  That same summer, I had a first cousin with a son about 5 years-old who both saw a creature they described the way "Greys" were always described.  I have no idea if they made it up, but they maintain to this day that what they saw was real and I believe them.  That said, I don't really care about the topic of UFOs and until I encounter one or an alien, myself, I probably never will.  I'm far more concerned with the collapse of America we are watching in real-time...

Pascagoula is the ship yard just outside of Gulfport.  I didn't join the Navy until 1977...4 years after this 'abduction'.

I have never even heard about it before...but...having lived in Gulfport for almost 4 years...I can say this...

People! We are talking about Mississippi!  I don't know what if any drugs they were taking but I don't think they were abducted.  It is, for crying outloud, Mississippi!  Why does that matter you ask?  If you are asking, it's because, you've never lived in Mississippi!  nuff said

this is actually a fascinating case.

Its not as straightforward as you may think. There has been a large amount of misinformation posted about this case, especially one of the main journalists who basically made things up such as 'checking the CCTV at the yard showed no signs of anything' this was tracked down and shown to be poetic license at best and downright lying at worst by the journalist to squash the event.

There are some detailed threads on UM about this that are worth reading.

Here are some audio files :
