The Absolute Truth about Atlantis

Florida was the Plain of Atlantis?

Plato’s story of Atlantis has changed over time because of false assumptions, different translators, and a lack of evidence. Critias told  the story from memory and acknowledged that he might make mistakes during his narration. The following translated version of Plato’s story came from Benjamin Jowett (1817-1893):

TL/DR. Could you sum it up in a sentence or two?

This time Atlantis is in Tampa, Florida.  It gets around, it does.

Do they have to make sense?

I'd give it a try.  If I use enough commas and colons I can write sentences that go on for literally pages.

Gawd... not again.

Don't be a grump!  As @Rojacksays at the top this is new research.  And it probably is a whole new approach, offering as evidence a 150-year-old translation of a book that never mentions America.

After recent battles with 'certain contributers' who pretend they understand the world better than anybody else, it's quite refreshing to see someone who's happy to post complete twaddle with no pretentious claims of being right, or even making the slightest sense.  Bravo @Rojack!  Your original approach to - whatever you're talking about - has brightened my day.

Maybe Atlantis was Laputa and Swift was a modern (well, 18th century) day Plato?

Ok Rojack.

Let’s start with your archaeological evidence and go from there.

Starting now.

What is there?

This again?

Were you out at the local last night and decided to post this after having a few?

We have 100% proven Tampa Florida is NOT Atlantis, never was, never will be.

Just because it has some and only if you use your imagination features that describe Atlantis does not make it so.

How much can a translator disagree???

And I hate to inform you but the Jowetts considered the idea that Atlantis as a real place sheer lunacy.

He insists it's Tampa, Florida but can't provide evidence.

Ok, so no archaeological evidence then.

How about geology? There must be some geologic evidence  not only for the existence of Atlantis but for its subsequent catastrophic demise as well.

What have you got?

Wrong on both counts.

Plato’s story has never changed.  People twist what he wrote (or simply invent words of their own and pass them off as Plato’s) to suit whatever pet theory they are trying to sell.

Plato SAYS Critias told the story. It’s not a fact as you’re automatically assuming.

Don't bother. She'll repeat it every time she smells "Atlantis", and she won't bother at all.

Memory problems they say. Old age problems they say. Trolling is what Ì say.

I put her on ignore because I find her repeating posts annoying as hell.

But I still can read what she posts because when someone quotes her, her posts shows up anyway. So putting someone on ignore is useless on this site.

Sh!t happens.

Your former thread was closed by Saru.

You have anything really NEW to offer, or do we have to wade to quotes from your (?) book again?

Sales are not what you had hoped for, or even expected?
