An arrest has been made in Tupac Shakur's killing. Here's what we know about the case and the rapper - ABC News (go.com)

Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested on suspicion of murder early Friday morning, according to two officials with first-hand knowledge of the arrest. They were not authorized to speak publicly ahead of an expected indictment later Friday.

In July, authorities executed a warrant in the nearby city of Henderson at Davis' house. He's the uncle of Orlando Anderson, one of Shakur’s known rivals who authorities long suspected shot the rapper. Anderson denied involvement in Shakur’s killing at the time, and died two years later in an unrelated gang shooting in Compton, California.

Details from the warrant obtained by The Associated Press shows detectives collected multiple computers, a cellular telephone, “documentary documents,” a Vibe magazine that featured Shakur, several .40-caliber bullets, two “tubs containing photographs” and a copy of Davis’ 2019 memoir, ”Compton Street Legend.”

I'm watching the press conference on CNN now. Las Vegas Metro is giving the whole description of what happened when Tupac was shot. They took time to really build a case against this Davis guy. They just said Davis is the only living suspect from that night. The other three are deceased.

With all the gangs in prison, I don't even know if they'll put him in the GP for a while. He won't last too long if they do.

The press conference begins around 23:00 but the broadcast is still going on although the conference is over. You'll need to look.

Good to see your police focusing on the things that matter.

Hi Sir

Unsolved murders and cold cases are police departments and were focusing on what matters with regard to their areas of investigation. The killers of many less famous people have been found as well, crimes get solved that is what police do.

Hi Sir

To be fair they likely weren't spending a lot of time on his case specifically and just some new information came up so can now close the case. The only reason that it is in the news is because of who he was.

Not very long, unless he is kept in solitary or some other form of protected confinement!!!!!

Here he is basically snitching on himself 4 years ago on VladTv.

Streets been talking about this since it happened.  Surprised the police are finally getting around to making an arrest.  A lot of these murders of rappers / gang members get solved on social media way before the police arrest anyone.  A lot of these guys can't help themselves chasing clout / street rep and ultimately wind up snitching on themselves.

My favorite rapper, MF DOOM was prophetic with this verse:

Rap snitches, telling all their business
Sit in the court and be their own star witness
"Do you see the perpetrator?" Yeah, I'm right here
Mess around, get the whole label sent up for years, uh

Donald Trump introduced Tupac Shakur to hip hop, taught him how to rap, and even performed on stage with him nationwide in the 1990s. RIP Tupac

What a bunch of random discourses in this thread.

But yes this case was surrounded by rumours and conspiracies.. it'll be good to close a cold case.

Useless fact of the day: At the time of his death, Tupac was worth no more than $200K.

Saw this over the weekend and was like, " Damn, after 30 years". I asked my friend... "Aren't most of those involved, retired, or dead by now?".

The rumored shooter, Orlando Anderson was killed a like two years after the murder.  Anderson was the guy that Tupac was stomping out in casino a few hours prior.  The guy being charged, Keefe D is his Uncle and supposedly was in the car when Pac was killed according to his own interviews.  This information has been around for at least 25 years.  However, due to people chasing clout and fame on social media, a lot of these guys can't help themselves doing interviews and running their mouths.  IIRC, Keefe thought he had immunity from snitching in some other unrelated cases or from providing some initial information on the investigation.

The suspect in the killing of Tupac Shakur appears in court for the first time

Duane Keith Davis, known as “Keffe D,” was expected to be arraigned on a charge of murder with use of a deadly weapon in a gang-related homicide stemming from the fatal September 7, 1996, shooting. But when Davis appeared in court Wednesday, dressed in a Clark County Detention Center jumpsuit, he said his defense attorney needed two weeks to arrange to be present.

State Judge Tierra D. Jones granted a continuance, delaying the arraignment until October 19. He is expected to plead not guilty then, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said in a news conference after Wednesday’s hearing, stressing Davis is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
