New York State Police issued an Amber Alert for Charlotte E. Sena Sunday morning, saying that she was abducted near Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoot, N.Y. She was last seen at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, wearing an orange tie-dye Pokémon shirt, dark blue pants, black Crocs and a grey bike helmet. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said at a press conference that the girl was biking with family friends around Loop A of the park Saturday evening and wanted to do the loop by herself. At about 6:45 p.m., the Sena family had discovered Charlotte’s bike on the loop and her mother promptly called 911 two minutes later.

It sounds like her family and the campers nearby reacted quickly. Her parents realized after she didn't return in 15 minutes from her ride that something was wrong. They found her bike a half hour later. Two minutes after that the police were notified. They are doing an extensive search of the area as there are also cabins in the area. It's a good size park with a lot of woods. Such a pretty, sweet little girl.  Hoping she was distracted by something and wandered off into the woods.

Charlotte is the niece of a member of the Schenectady Fire Department, which is also helping with the search, Hochul added.

“We are leaving no stone, no branch, no table, no cabin unturned, untouched, unexamined in our search to find Charlotte,” she said. “If you know anything, if you’ve seen anything, if you hear anything, please contact 911 to tell us what you know.”

Charlotte is a fourth grader who was recently elected to be a class officer for student council, Hochul said.

“Hearts are broken here today in New York. Hopefully there will be a reunion, hopefully there will be a family that has been traumatized but is reunited,” she said. “That is our prayer and our hope.”

Moreau Lake State Park, in Saratoga County, is more than 4,600 acres and “lies amid hardwood forests, pine stands and rocky ridges,” according to the Department of Environmental Conservation. It’s roughly 45 miles north of Albany.

The park said in a Facebook post it is closed until further notice.

I think that when things like this occur and solid evidence convicts the person who killed or maimed a child, that person deserves to suffer in a special way before taking their life from them.  Children's lives should cost vastly more than that of an adult.

I just read a local crime story from my area where a mentally ill mother drowned her two children aged two and six, before hanging herself in a closet in the home.  Her estranged husband found the bodies.  Anyone who thinks there isn't a special kind of evil burgeoning in the world today, simply isn't paying attention.

I know we don’t always see eye, however on these subjects never disagree. I think anyone who harms a child intentionally should be subjected to the rathe of that child’s family.

I certainly agree, and while I don’t follow Christian Doctrine I can however, understand why many Christians believe the end days are upon us!

It sure is. The parents and the campers reacted so quickly to her going missing, if she just wandered off for some reason, they should have found her. Police were on the scene within an hour of the last time she was seen after they couldn't find her and found her bike on the path. That didn't take a half an hour. I fear that someone had to be watching them and acted when the little girl went for a solo ride.

Thats exactly what I was thinking to disappear so quickly and without a trace this could not have been a spontaneous act, it was planned!

I just found this. The suspect is Craig Ross Jr and he's 46 yrs old. Some interesting stuff in the links but not much has really been released yet.

“On October 2, 2023, through the course of the investigation, State Police identified an individual as being in the area of the Moreau Lake State Park around the time Charlotte went missing,” police wrote. “Further investigation led to the search of multiple residences where the individual is known to reside. Upon the search of those residences, at approximately 6:32 p.m. on October 2, 2023, State Police located Charlotte Sena safe and in good health. The suspect was taken into custody.”

Susie, here some additional information I just found: It's a great read and it tells the entire story from beginning to end, man law enforcement certainly should be applauded for how well this case. Also, thank god the individual was not a pedophile and that she was not physically harmed!!!!!

Such an amazing result.  Too many times they are found dead, the poor parents.  It is traumatic for the child, but, being able to do nothing and waiting...so glad they got her back.

The parents and the police both moved quickly. That was so important in bringing this to a good end. 

He left a ransom note at the parent's house? How did he know where they lived? That wasn't released to the public as far as I can recall. Now I wonder if this little girl was targeted. Police have some solid evidence against this guy. He won't walk!

So glad all is fine. I can't imagine the gut wrenching, once my littlest ran and hid from us in a mall. We found her and after babe was disciplining her some people were like in our face about child services etc. I was like you better check! Move on to your biz. Later some private bleep showed up at our house. Everything was cool, never used it, never seen that woman again, she'd given us her card.

One last thing, one never forgets things like that.

And a long goodbye to him too I hope. I still can't help but wonder about that ransom note being in the family's mailbox. How did he know where they lived? Have you seen anywhere that their address was released and made public? The news tonight said they couldn't find any connection between the suspect and the family. But how did he know where she lived and that she'd be in the park that day with her family? Makes me wonder how long he's been watching and possibly following her. This only makes sense to me if he was in some way familiar with the girl before the kidnapping occurred.
