Trump Fined $5,000 for Violating Gag Order in NY Fraud Trial

The judge presiding over the civil fraud trial of Donald J. Trump fined the former president $5,000 on Friday for a “blatant violation” of a gag order imposed this month. The judge, Arthur F. Engoron, stopped short of holding Mr. Trump in contempt but warned that the former president still could face harsher punishments, even jail time, if he ran afoul of the order again. Mr. Trump’s post was removed from his social media platform, Truth Social, on Oct. 3, the day Justice Engoron imposed the gag order, but a copy of the post remained visible on his campaign website. The post was finally removed from the website around 10 p.m. on Thursday, after Justice Engoron learned of it and contacted Mr. Trump’s legal team.

A lawyer for Mr. Trump, Christopher M. Kise, said in court on Friday that the failure to remove the post sooner was “inadvertent.” He apologized on behalf of Mr. Trump. Make no mistake: future violations, whether intentional or unintentional, will subject the violator to far more severe sanctions,” Justice Engoron wrote. He said possible punishments included steeper fines, holding Mr. Trump in contempt of court and “possibly imprisoning him.

I expect the next fine (you know there will be another fine coming) to have a few more zeros to it.

I certainly agree, the guy is an idiot he is unable to follow simple instructions. But, I must say while I know it will never happen, I would love to see him handcuffed and taken away, that would certainly be the funniest thing I have ever seen. I mean the guy would split his diaper, oh my god can you imagine the look on his face!!!!😀 😁🤡

Wait til he comes face to face with Cohen in court next Tuesday. After he said Cohen was a coward for not facing him. Odds are Trump won't show up for it.

Well, he has a rally scheduled in New Hampshire on Monday, so you know, important campaigning stuff.

As he said, he could have gone to Iowa or New Hampshire which he really wanted to do, but the court was  keeping him there he said.  Apparently they would let him out for  watching a golf tournament at Doral though.

Had a guy at work that said he was too poor to pay for gas to get to work.  Then he opened up a plastic bag with six energy drinks he bought at the gas station.

Trump, like this worker of mine, probably truly thinks that he is being wronged, but in reality it is they who are ultimately responsible for how they allocate their time/resources.

It does. He was fined $10,000 today and stormed out of court.

Trump fraud trial: Ex-president storms out, judge issues gag order fine (cnbc.com)

Donald Trump stormed out of his $250 million New York fraud trial Wednesday, shortly after a judge fined him for violating his gag order and then rejected a defense attorney’s bid for a verdict in Trump’s favor.

The visibly angry former president’s sudden departure elicited gasps from the courtroom and sent his own Secret Service agents chasing after him, NBC News reported.

Trump left while Michael Cohen, his former personal lawyer who is a star witness against him in the case, was still on the stand.

During Trump’s absence, Cohen clarified that while Trump did not explicitly tell him to inflate the numbers, he communicated the outcome he wanted. Trump speaks like a “mob boss,” Cohen explained.

Trump later walked back into the courtroom, and Robert again asked the judge for a directed verdict.

“Absolutely not,” Engoron said, telling the attorney, “there’s enough evidence in this case to fill the courtroom.”

The Judge has ruled that Ivanka must testify in court.

Donald Trump is set to testify Nov. 6 in civil fraud trial. Daughter Ivanka also will testify - ABC News (go.com)

NEW YORK -- Donald Trump is set to testify Nov. 6 at his New York civil fraud trial, following his three eldest children to the witness stand in a case that threatens to disrupt their family's real estate empire, state lawyers said Friday.

It was already expected that the former president and sons Donald Jr. and Eric would testify. The timing became clear Friday, after Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that daughter Ivanka Trump also must appear, rejecting her bid to avoid testifying.

The schedule sets up a blockbuster stretch in the trial of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit. She alleges that the former president, now the Republican front-runner for 2024, overstated his wealth for years on financial statements that were given to banks, insurers and others to help secure loans and deals.

Donald Trump and the two sons are defendants in the lawsuit, but the state is initially calling them to the stand before the defense begins its case. The defense can then call them again.

Might have to toss em in the clink til the trials over.

At least for contempt of court which he obviously has because he keeps repeating the behavior over and over. Everyone is equal under the law. Who else would get away with this?

The Mouth, The Brain Is Much More Important
"I have broken more Elton John records, he seems to have a lot of

virtually every record. Because you know, look I only need this space.
They need much more room. For basketball, for hockey and all of the
sports, they need a lot of room. We don't need it. We have people in that
space. So we break all of these records. Really we do it without like, the
musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully
the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important
than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important”

Actual quote from a Montana campaign rally. !?

It's poor taste to make fun of someone having a stroke. So I suppose I'll say, I hope they get well soon.

I think he'd like to at this point because of the martyr image.  But he's rich and very influential... the rest of us would have been chucked into the pokey long ago.  I don't see him in county orange just yet.
