No Cormac. It's the other way around. I purposely ignore what is NOT true about the man which leaves me with everything that IS true to build on.

Hey, I'll put it this way. It's MY reality tunnel. :D

I got what I wanted from the discussion I had with him. So I'm basically done.

If I came across as harsh I apologize Xeno, but I see it as someone taking a verbal dump on a man and his memory based on things they do not and cannot know about same just so they can “reinvent” him to be something not in evidence to make themselves feel good. That just blows my mind and makes me want to puke.

What blows my mind, if I may say so myself, is how a person can't read what's written about the man and separate the tares from the wheat and end up knowing what CAN be known.

Every bit of what was written about Jesus was done so by complete and total strangers decades to generations AFTER his death. Can you speak to the veracity of any of those writers or their sources? No, you can’t! That leaves extremely little “truth” for you to know.

Read's problem is that evil lives, rent-free, in her head and she looks at the world through its eyes.

That's the conviction she hold deepest. Rather sad really.

I'm not upset or even offended. If the belief is a tool for self improvement then it doesn't bother me as it isn't my life. You do what you feel is necessary.

Here's the thing, I don't believe anything that you just said. But you have every right to believe whatever you believe as you see fit the same way that I do. It doesn't matter to me what you believe. Why it matters to you what I believe, if that's the case, is interesting. Maybe because to be honest, I feel a bit that way about you.

So you don’t believe in facts? That explains a lot.

I just expected you to be able to separate fact from fiction. Now that I know you can’t I give up. Moving on.

What you said aren't facts. They're just your speculations. Your opinions. Which you're entitled to. Just like I'm entitled to mine.

Nope, they’re not. Look the books up as to evidence for when written and by whom. Try again.

That's the thing about religion in general. Religion doesn't rely on facts; it relies on belief. Religion has nothing to prove and need prove nothing.

I know it relies on belief. That doesn’t make those pesky facts go away.

There is no verifiable evidence for when the books you're referring to were written and by whom.

But like I've already said, that doesn't matter to me. What matters is what is written and how it helps to comprehend what would otherwise be incomprehensible.

Facts don't matter when it comes to religion. All they have to do is believe what was written is right. We don't even know if the story of Jesus' early years is even anywhere near the truth, much less the whole story of his life. It's pointless to try to debunk the story with equally speculative rationalizations.

Ok, I’ll bite. What is speculative about being a 1st century Jew?

Too, general and virtually meaningless when it comes to an individual's life story, like saying a twenty-first century Jew. Everything else is speculation.

Not any more meaningless than claiming you or I had 65th great grandfathers. It’s not meant to tell an individuals life story and I’ve never claimed that to be the case so I don’t really see that as a valid point.

What is your point, Cormac? Why even bring up facts with one for whom facts are meaningless? He doesn't care.

My point is that facts exist. I don’t care what he believes, that doesn’t negate those facts. Some of which he now claims, likely without looking, don’t exist.    I know it’s true that most people have lied to themselves to some degree in their life but I’ve never fallen that deep down that particular rabbit hole.

He has and you'll not dissuade him. I'm afraid your attempt to lay Jesus to rest, in his eyes with a stake of holly through his heart, is doomed to failure.

My right to try to get him to at least acknowledge the facts, his right to ignore, your right to complain. Moving on.

Old friend, do you think you are the only one to know what it's like to feel God-forsaken? You fash yourself sorely and to no good purpose. Give it a rest.

I agree I think people are just too busy with their jobs, egos and worrying about what others think to listen to their gut feelings, survival instincts. People that do have the skill are put up on a pedestal like they are some kind of magic being.

I think that prophecy is just as dangerous as 30 story building workers or truck drivers or other risky jobs. Saying the stars in the sky are the same as the sun but far away is a dangerous proposition when everyone is settled on some other way for a long time. Do you feel any prophecy has opened up to openozy lately? Even seemingly personal?

Deoends on his purpose. To change, or to chase off.

Walker's gone now, and the skeptics remain. There's progress sometimes.
