A furious row has erupted over small boat channel crossings as the figures this year are set to hit the second highest on record.

Despite Rishi Sunak’s January pledge to “stop the boats”, 28,453 migrants have crossed the channel in small boats this year, compared with a total of 28,526 in 2021.

And after a busy weekend in the channel, when the Home Office figures are updated the total number of crossings this year is set to top 2021’s total.

Well that is pretty pathetic.  Why does Britain have laws it can't enforce?

Why is there two of these threads?  You been on the booze, Pellinore?

I noticed this morning, lol! Immigration is such a rich seam, now there is the new minimum earnings of £38K (immigrants will earn more than UK workers in care homes), the £15 million more to Rwanda, and Tory revolt over cutting back essential workers. The asylum system and immigration are such a shambles, I forget what I have already posted. There is some good stuff about the new raised limit- how would you feel working in a care home, knowing a new immigrant staff member has a starting rate of £38K/annum? And if they did not take them on, the care home would close as there are no UK staff available? Shambles.
