I have done that on more then one occasion and the doctors all told me the same thing that I have Tinnitus. I have all the symptoms you described above except at times it just goes a away for very short periods of time during the day. But, that quite never lasts and it come roaring back again.

But seriously thanks for your concern, I appreciate it very much.:tu:

I stand corrected. Glad yours isn't constant.

Sorry about the thread jack, but I don't think the op likes the advice given.

That is very interesting , I hear them too in the last few weeks since the war in Israel started . Mostly at night. I live one hour from Toronto. I am pretty sure they transport stuff to Israel.  Those heavy engines are usually of massive aircrafts transporters .

I don't know how loud your tinnitus is, but hearing aids, for some reason, do lower the volume substantially.

The reason it's louder at night is because you're more focused on environmental sounds around you during the day. Including talking to others. At night it's pretty quiet so it seems louder. Lots of sufferers use white noise at night to lower the tinnitus. Unfortunately, mine tinnitus is severe so I had to learn to ignore it. The hearing aids help a lot. 🦻

Hearing aids… really?
Might have to check that out, the bloody cicadas in my head are rather loud these days (big thanks to a certsin screaming student).

Peace my friend!!:tu:

Yes, I was quite surprised how much it helped. You'd be surprised what audiologists can do these days.

They need to NEVER know that they actually hurt me, because I may very well have been the only positive male role model in their lives.

My tinnitus is 24/7/365.

So is mine, but it wasn't always that way. Started out as intermittent chirping noises that sounded just like Morse code to a solid ring. At one point it even sounded like I could hear my blood being pumped through my veins and that was the creepy one :unsure2:.

The word “tinnitus” comes from the Latin word for “ringing.” But the sounds that people with tinnitus hear also include whistling, buzzing, humming, hissing, clicking or knocking. They may be heard in one or both ears. Some people say it feels like the sound is coming from inside their head, whereas others say it sounds like it is coming from outside. Tinnitus may be constant or it may come and go. It is sometimes very quiet and then really loud again.

It can be, but isn't necessarily, associated with hearing loss. Most people with tinnitus have normal hearing otherwise.

They even say that tinnitus can just suddenly quit and I'm still waiting for that day.

Tinnitus is constant, Not just at a specific time of day.

Not unless all of us do I'm not the only one that hears it it's 2:30 in the morning right now and I'm sitting here with a friend and we're both listening to it it's just interesting so we just must have jets flying by 24/7 especially from around 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. non-stop every night

I’d try calling the non-emergency number for your local police to see if they know anything about it. With a noise that loud, there probably have already been a few calls made by other people in your area.

Why don't you just look up the flight path for your area...it's on the internet somewhere. Or just say where you are and let someone more resourceful look it up.

Not for me, it comes and goes during the average month I may have 3 or 4 quite days and I am very thankful for those days.

Have you ever taken notice where you are during those quiet days?   The only quiet days I have is when I am in a remote area that has no wifi or cell phone signal.   I love camping because I can clear my head.   It is why I know I don't have tinnitus.   I talked about this with an audiologist.

I never know when it will happen, all of a sudden the buzzing will just stop, It only lasts a few hours and then it comes back. Because of it I also have some hearing loss. When, I retired from the Army I was given a retirement physical exam, and the doctor told me the hearing loss was a result of the Tinnitus. I would have to check but I believe I was given a percentage for it from the VA.

Right, but that is NOT Tinnitus.  That is wifi and cell phone noise.   Just because someone claims it is beyond human hearing does not mean we can't hear it or that our body is interpreting those frequencies in a way we can perceive them.   And for the  most part tinnitus used to be rare, a condition caused by cacification that caused pressure on the nerves in the ear.    So when almost everyone has tinnitus, I question the validity of that diagnosis.  Usually people don't even go to an audiologist, just decide that it is tinnitus.

So you were actually diagnosed.  That is different.   Most people don't bother to go to an audiologist (mainly because it is expensive and often not covered by insurance).

Well, when you retire from the Military you are required to take a complete retirement physical exam. This exam plus your medical records is what the Veterans Administration uses to calculate your disability rating. It cost me nothing because since I retired, which gave me Tricare for the rest of my life and free medical treatment at any government healthcare facility.

So, when I went for my physical, I informed the doctor of the buzzing in my ears, so they gave me a hearing test. Hearing loss was detected so I was given an appointment to see audiologist where it was determined that the cause of my hearing loss was tinnitus. Like I said before I believe that I was given a percentage of disability for it, that is part of the 100% disability the Veterans Administration awarded me.

I just signed up for this account just now. Not sure if I'm even posting this correctly or even in the correct spot. okay so every single night prime time is like 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. I hear loud jet sounds that don't get any closer or any further away they're just there and then they're not. I personally do not think it is a jet I think there's spacecrafts and I have a feeling they're everywhere in all Skies all states I'm listening to it right now actually and it is loud it's like they're revving up their engine. Without doubt I believe we are not alone I believe everyone knows about it except for the Common People such as us. Anyway without cutting me down does anybody have any thoughts on this. Thank you

I have the Flight Radar app which usually displays aircraft nearby. You could try downloading it and see what's on there. Sometimes fighter jets aren't on there though, due to military secrecy I guess but it's very useful to locate airplane noise.

Slow Down[edit]

Duration: 17 seconds.0:17

Slow Down is a sound recorded on May 19, 1997, in the Equatorial Pacific Ocean by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The source of the sound was most likely a large iceberg as it became grounded.[7]

I think the sounds were from the slow downs sounds :)

It's me I'm the one that started this post about the weird jet sound in the sky. It is almost 8:00 p.m. I live in Anchorage Alaska and I'm going to log back onto here as soon as it starts again because it happens every single night. It's identical to listening to a loud jet that's flying above except for it is Extremely Loud and it just comes out of nowhere and then vanishes it doesn't you know start off from the distance and get closer and closer it's just there and then it's just gone and it happens several times a night so I'll log back in as soon as it starts and I'll describe it better

Does anyone here know how a hypersonic vehicle (jet/missile/etc) would sound?

I couldn't find anything in the internet. Any aerospace people in the forums?

Marbles mysterious sound has me intrigued.

@Marblesjade74  Do you know of any aircraft maintenance facilities nearby? When a jet engine is being tested during a maintenance check, it’s sometimes run for 30 minutes or longer. The sound is deafening and can travel long distances, depending on weather conditions and the surrounding topography.
However, I think your local sound ordinances would limit engine testing to daytime hours.

That's an interesting possibilty too, @simplybill. I searched around and discovered about 21 aerospace manufacturing companies in Anchorage. Unless the information I found was incorrect, it includes some pretty big ones like Boeing and another one that might lead me down a tangent into 'conspiracy theory' territory. lol. I'll keep that one to myself for the sake of staying on topic.

I'm not sure about maintenance facilities, but with all the airports and aerospace manufacturing it seems like a busy area.

I hope @Marblesjade74 continues to post.
