SYDNEY (Reuters) - Three elderly passengers have sparked a security scare at Sydney airport after they inadvertently wandered through a wrong door, causing long delays for hundreds of domestic passengers.

Australian flag carrier Qantas briefly shut down operations at part of its

domestic terminal when the alarm was raised after the three people walked through an exit door and entered a secure area without undergoing screening.

"We've found one of them and we're identifying the remaining two," a Qantas spokesman said. No more details about the three elderly people were available.

Qantas was investigating how the travellers had managed to go through the wrong door past a guard, despite heightened security at the airport since the October 12 bombings in Bali and the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.
