Russian citizenship move on Ukrainian children sparks outcry

Ukraine has condemned a decree signed by President Putin making it possible to confer Russian citizenship on Ukrainian children moved to Russia.

Last March, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for President Putin over Russia's policy of forced child deportations.

The Ukrainian foreign ministry called the decree illegal.

However, Russia insists it is moving the children out of harm's way.

On 4 January Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a citizenship decree expediting Russian citizenship to foreigners and stateless people.

Putin shows he's a true rat.

Using kids for his 'cause'.

Is he on that Epstein list, btw.?

The children Putin has kidnapped are simply not enough to replace the million men dead and crippled from the war.  War crimes upon war crimes.

Not to mention the millions that left Russia when the war broke out. I read an article that said in March of 2022 an estimated 200,000 had left Russia.

Using ADS-B Exchange I monitored the air traffic out of Moscow and specifically Turkish Air Lines with call sign starting with THY and the traffic out of Moscow was just enormous. Here is a screen grab from October of 2022 that shows Turkish Airlines departing Moscow and this was the norm for months.

Every plane in the image is Turkish Airlines and every plane in the red line is out of Moscow.

June 2023 BBC article on the numbers leaving Russia

There are no exact figures on how many people have left Russia - but estimates vary from hundreds of thousands to several million.

In May the UK Ministry of Defence estimated 1.3 million people leaving Russia in 2022.

Other estimates of figures from various sources confirm the trend. Forbes magazine cited sources inside the Russian authorities as saying that between 600,000 and 1,000,000 people left in 2022. The Bell and RTVi - popular Russian-language media - published comparable figures.

This article from Reuters estimates that Russia is short 4.8 million workers so I would imagine there is a strong correlation between the number of people who left Russia and the shortage of workers.

Russia may find themselves in the same predicament that was Nazi Germany's problem and left with nothing but old men and young boys to fight their war.

And that is pretty hilarious, given that Ukraine hasn't even invaded Russia.
