A 31-year-old woman and her daughters - aged eight and three - were doused with an alkaline substance on Wednesday evening in an attack in Clapham, south London

Police believe the woman knows the attacker

The injuries to the woman and the younger girl "could be life-changing", Scotland Yard added

Witnesses said one of the girls was dragged out of a car by the attacker before he threw the substance. The mother said "I can't see, I can't see" after the attack

This is why we need the death penalty.

With acid attacks being horrific I don`t think hanging is appropriate either. Society needs to dispatch the offender horrifically.

It also seems like some of the substance got onto the right side of the offenders face.

Clapham alkaline attack suspect named by police.

Police have named the man suspected of throwing a corrosive substance over a woman during a "horrific" attack in Clapham, leaving her and her two young girls in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

Superintendent Gabriel Cameron named the suspect as Abdul Ezedi as he spoke to reporters at the scene of Wednesday night's attack in a street off Clapham Common.

He has a criminal conviction for a sex offence.

His facial injuries are confirmed as happening in the attack. He is someone we gave citizenship to so I don`t understand why we didn`t kick him out after the sex offence. I hope the only place he is going to now is into a cell on a whole life tariff.

In the meantime we need the death penalty back.

Where have you got that from? I can't find anything to back that up.

Its not acid its an alkali attack.

Its going to be something like caustic soda. Thats her eyes gone, but her skin they can probably do something with.

All the people talking about "lawless London" and criticizing the Sadiq Khan are probably feeling pretty silly now that it turns out he was from Newcastle.

Police are hunting a Newcastle man after a mother and toddler suffered potentially life-changing injuries in a chemical attack.

A toddler and her mother had an alkaline substance thrown at them in a “targeted” attack which saw 11 people taken to hospital in South London on Wednesday. The Metropolitan Police said the 31-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter, alongside her other daughter, aged eight, remain in hospital.

Officers have named the suspect as Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, who is aged 35, and is believed he travelled down from Newcastle earlier that day.

I really cannot believe that after we prosecuted him for a sexual assault we then gave him citizenship.

Something is seriously wrong there. Attacking someone with a corrosive substance is such an horrific attack (agonising, and life changing, and often resulting in suicide) that I feel that for those offenders it is appropriate to have unusual and cruel punishments.

He needs a whole life tariff combined with a cup of acid being thrown in his face. ******* animal. It shouldn`t be left to the hope someone in prison with get him with a cup of sugary boiling water.

£20,000 reward offered for information on Clapham chemical assault suspect

Police have offered a reward of up to £20,000 for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of a suspected chemical attacker.

An extensive nationwide search operation has failed to locate Abdul Ezedi, who is alleged to have attacked a 31-year-old woman and her two daughters on Wednesday. Detectives have said that anyone found assisting him faces arrest, and believe there are people concealing his location.

It seems as if the woman has been blinded- "life changing" injuries are reported.

I find it hard to forgive the Brexiters ending the freedom of movement of our fellow Europeans and ourselves to then give it to hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world- several million by the end of the decade. Brexiters must hate the UK and Europe.

You do realise he came to the UK in 2016 under EU rules.

I really don`t think its appropriate to turn an acid attack topic into yet another anti-Brexit debate. The guy needs a whole life tariff, and hopefully the guards will `leave him alone` for 30 minutes to the other convicts.

Sadly, as it's election year, politics will come into just about everything: Both Labour and Tory rebels are expected to use the case, in which a woman and two children were seriously hurt, to target the prime minister in the Commons this week.

Jesus, your attempt to turn every single topic around to Brexit have become tiresome and boring but in this case are particularly loathsome.

p.s. If the mods are watching, can someone start a dedicated Brexit section, then Pellinor & a few others can knock themselves out talking about it & the rest of us can ignore it. Many thanks in advance.

I agree Cookie, I regret posting it now. I was prompted to when I watched a YT video by Richard complaining about immigration, and I noticed in the comments that people has finally twigged that closing the door to Europe and opening it to the whole world may have been a bad idea. They haven't yet decided that they would prefer European immigrants to Africa/Asian ones because they don't realise we need immigration, but they will given time. https://youtu.be/UNrW1EU9ebs?si=mPzwTs1Bff2s3Ygc

You didn't, but why is this attack on a woman by what appears to be an ex-partner getting so much attention?

Is it because it is an example of misogyny?

An example of domestic violence?

An example of street violence because of a lack of police on the beat?

Or is it getting attention because the perp was an asylum seeker? (It is worth bearing in mind that Farage played a large part in banning European seasonal workers and so is partly responsible for the hundreds of thousands of Asian and African immigrants settling in the UK under the points-based system. Time the clown took responsibility for it, instead of whining).

Its because acid attacks are horrific.

Its also not usually a crime done by a white offender. This is because there are areas of the world where immigrants come from who have a culture of acid attacks.

Yes of course., because pouring acid over the faces of your own children and partner is a great British tradition that goes back centuries, almost up there with dancing around the maypole and foxhunting.
