Should the PM have accepted £1000 bet on Rwanda flights?

It doesn't seem quite right to me: I know he is a multi-millionaire so £1k is small beans to him but a recent law has made it difficult for ordinary people to place a bet that large; it's mocking people in a cost-of-living crisis who don't even have 1000 pennies to spare; and it is even mocking his own Rwanda policy which he is betting his Party's future on. Not to say mocking the people who are awaiting a decision on asylum.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been criticised by opposition parties for a bet over his Rwanda policy.

Asked by TalkTV's Piers Morgan if he would bet £1,000 for a refugee charity that deportation flights would take off before the next election, the PM shook hands with him.

Labour said it showed he was "totally out of touch with working people".

The SNP said it had reported Mr Sunak for a potential breach of ministerial rules over the "grotesque" bet.

Its a gotcha setup by Morgan. Whatever Sunak's answer it would be commented on in the negative.

No faith in his own policy or gambling. But the money goes to charity.

Methinks political opportunist's doth protest too much😉

Or just say, I'm not going to do that because it's against parliamentary rules. Not hard.

Government of integrity my ****.

But is it, so far we have the say so of the SNP.

Not a political body, based on recent developments, that seem to have a clue about rules.

Well given that it is for civil servants, I'm going to make naive assumption it is for MPs.

He lies on a weekly basis in Parliament, Johnson set a precedent. Decency and accountability disappeared in the grab for money that populism offers. Years of austerity that has eroded education and public services means that the general population is getting stupider and more desperate.

Hmmm, what were the odds?

This is just the meedya politicking to try and find out when the election date is. They don't care either way about an immigrant.

Morgan winning over another two fans in the form of Pellinore and Setton though.

You think I like that troll because he interviewed and caught out our incompetent PM?

Hardly.
